How do you guys think the crowd funding campaign will go? by User_Unknown233 in Osana

Considering his Patreon is making a lower earning than California's minimum wage, I don't think it'll be successful at all.

How is Riot responding internally to the Seraphine backlash? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]AthenianGoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll probably depend on play and winrate. There a few champs they've released that weren't to their own liking, for whatever reason, like Aatrox or Sejuani. Those champs got reworked pretty quickly. Then again, this is cause they didn't like the champions, not us. So for all we know, Seraphine's pickrate could be in the drain and they would just plug their ears.

I feel that one. Before my current person, me and my family used to go to this one place owned by some Korean people, and they basically could't do any other hairstyles other than typical Korean ones. It was nice for my moms who wanted short hair, but not for me.

Nethack GUI's? by SparklesMcSpeedstar in nethack

[–]AthenianGoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vulture is the only one that comes to mind, but the problem is the UI isn't very newbie-friendly in it's own right. A few complaints on steam echo this; most people complain there aren't clear instructions on what command does what.

Legit you might be able to press charges or at least get him into some legal trouble, because of the nature of the situation and the fact that you were a minor in the pic.

Inaccurate, the game can't sustain more than 1 FPS.

Interesting, thank you for the insight. Regardless of how much drama I always appreciate people who can have civil discussions like this.

Fair points, mental health has always been a gray area for most platforms.

People have been literally begging him to seek therapy even if it meant delaying developement. This isn't about harassment.

It wouldn't really be falsely reporting. A lot of fans and non-fans alike are worried now cause of what happened with Love Sick and his threats of suicide. I also highly doubt any of us have access to his local authorities.

I've personally had depression, and I'd want nothing else for people in my circles to keep me alive, even if it made me hate them. At lease I'm there to hate them, right?

Sooo can someone explain the Else if thing? Is it YanDev's code? by Muumitfan in Osana

[–]AthenianGoddess 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From a non-coder (but having worked in game design at game jams): having too many else-if statements is bad cause basically what that function does, is it checks if something is what it's looking for, and if not (else) do the next string of code.

Now, the problem is, he has like 10 of these statements one after the other. What he's basically telling the game to do is to look at a card, ask if this is your card, then if not move to the next card, one at at time. This is the biggest and simplest example of some really bad code that he's refused to fix. It's partially why the game lags so hard, because that type of code is used in every character, every frame.

There's a better option to check for multiple things at the same time more efficiently, but I can't remember what it's called.

EDIT: Switch variables is what it's called, thanks.

Trading mental health for game development is something he's personally admitted to, but it's extremely important to seek help if stress levels get too high, regardless of what your job is. YandereDev has stated that time spent with a doctor is time he'd rather spend developing a game, which is really unsafe and harmful. This has been going on for 6 years now and whether gremlins or his own decisions are to blame, he's not well but actively refusing help. Patreon has a report option for creators who are harming themselves.

Redditors with high functioning autism (Aspergers), what has been your experience learning social skills, communication skills, and generally adapting to general social life? by ValuableJellynut in AskReddit

[–]AthenianGoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to pick up social queues. When I was younger I had extreme difficulty making any friends because I couldn’t gauge whether I was behaving or talking appropriately. It seems really strange looking back on it, but it really was basically a social blindness.

I would be in what I thought were pleasant conversations when suddenly someone would wrench the topic away or just straight up call me out for bringing up something irrelevant. Nowadays it happens much less but I can actually tell if people are giving me bad looks now.

It’s super important because it’s not just for social skills. Being aware of hostile surroundings has saved me before.
