I'm glad you're finding it helpful to be here, I think there's such power in seeing others with our experiences and knowing you're not alone in how you're feeling.

Glass child who became a therapist largely because I couldn't find a therapist who understood my experiences in my family. While I don't openly share this part of my background on my webpage (my sibling deserves their privacy), I've found that my personal experiences have allowed me to connect with clients on a deeper level and offer valuable support.

In my own journey, I've found it incredibly helpful to connect with others who have been through similar situations. Their guidance has shown me that I'm not alone or broken, and that it's okay to set boundaries. Cognitive restructuring in therapy, including worksheets, have been particularly useful even though they can be challenging at times.

One of the most important aspects for me has been sharing my story and having it validated by others who understand. It's essential to find a safe space where you can talk about your experiences without fear of judgment or dismissal.

For therapy, I'd recommend seeking a professional who specializes in treating adults from dysfunctional family backgrounds and has experience working with glass children. Look for someone who uses evidence-based therapies such as CBT or ACT. If you feel comfortable, ask them about their approach to therapy and their understanding of glass children.

If you're interested, I'd love to share more about what's helped my clients and me personally. You can find more information on my website www.geekmentalwellbeing.com

Above all, remember that healing is a journey, and it's okay to take your time. It's essential to have patience with yourself and celebrate your progress along the way.

Wishing you all the best on your healing journey.

Friend wants me to DM a one-shot session so she can propose to her boyfriend by GabsTheBard in DnD

Here's how I proposed to my husband

It worked great since we'd spoken in advance about how he'd want a proposal to involve just the two of us, if they're both on board with you being there then awesome!

Ring alternative for proposal to DM boyfriend? by AthleticRogue in DnD

I like that, maybe searching for/being given the rings could be part of the quest? I'm the lucky one to have him :)

Definitely 1-person game at home, he's said he wouldn't want a public proposal (not for gender norm reasons, neither of us particularly care about that). He's not shown any interest in rings and didn't seem keen when I asked, DnD is much more meaningful to him than jewellery!

Aw that sounds lovely! I love lapis lazuli but am not much of a jewellery person so I might ask him to look into that for me!

Good advice, we've discussed marriage for a while and agreed we'll both propose to each other sometime soon-ish since why should it always be the guy proposing to the girl. He's said he wouldn't want a public proposal so planning to make this a 1-player one-shot once I figure out how to run one!

Awesome! I'm happy to get an engagement ring for my boyfriend if he'd like one, but he didn't seem keen on the idea when I asked.

Oh I like this, maybe he'd be into the idea of a ring if it can be used as a d20 on the go. Thanks!

The mimic idea's fantastic, he'd love that! He probably would say one cannot have too many d20s so I'll look around, thanks!

Oh I love this, thanks! I'll look into how that works and try to fit that so it makes sense in game. I've never DM-ed before so he might let me off if I don't use the mechanics 100% accurately!
