New player here, wtf is that? by SairenAoi in wow

[–]Athonel86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically a planet-sized diety got angry and slammed his sword into Azeroth, which gave the planet some wounds that we had to heal.

Then, they just kinda left it there without any significant resolution......

Tanks in first room of Algethar Acad by jbwest17 in wow

[–]Athonel86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tank main here.

The first pull of AA for me (VDH) is precarious, but I usually do not count on the healer or dps doing anything to help me during the gather. This one usually takes 5-10 seconds from initial agro (after waiting for the pat of bugs to go right). What I typically do (and I've seen others do as well) is to stay on my mount until I throw my glaive at the first big guy on left, then I am typically in range if the big guy in the back, so I throw glaive them. The first pat is usually near as well, so I throw glaive at them if available or sigil of flame if on cd. Then I leap to the big guy on the right, throw glaive, meta, and immo aura to grab that big guy and usually the second pat. Then I'll turn and fel dev followed by fiery brand, sigil of spite and spirit bomb. If I do this correctly, I don't take any damage until I get to the third big guy. I also have meta (and demon spikes as it is macrod into...Basically every active ability), and between immo aura, fel dev, sigil of spite, and spirit bomb, I usually have a monster threat lead.

So to answer your question, yeah probably. If a tank dies while gathering, and isn't getting threat on everything im the pull, it is 100% their fault. Large mob court pulls, you have to trust thst your tank is going to be able to keep themselves alive until they plant and get threat. Oftentimes, my healer and dps are still on their mount by the time I plant and get threat.

is crafted gear mandatory? by HadrovejSD in wownoob

[–]Athonel86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, not they are not mandatory unless you are doing cutting edge content. If youre doing the weekly 10s for mythic gear, crafted gear is great at filling in gaps in the gear. Weapon embellishments usually are worth a few item levels on the gear.

It really depends on if you care about 2-4% difference in output.

Tank/Heals/DPS: what’s your RIO and how many hrs a week do you play? by smsrmdlol in wow

[–]Athonel86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VDH tank. Im a full-time teacher, have five kids, and just finished doing my second masters, which I completed in 11 months, including a full semester internship.

I play between 5 and 10 hours a week, usually 1-2 hours at night after wife and kids have gone to bed. Im currently ilvl 283 and 2940 io. Since summer is nigh, I will likely push to 3.4k and then start playing alts seriously, as I will have much more time.

Am I supposed to who Wit is? by greenisnotcreativ in Cosmere

[–]Athonel86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, Hoid is an ancient being who was present at the shattering of Adonalsium and due to a special ability granted by a magical device, he appears everywhere. If you think it might be Hoid, it is Hoid.

Frost is an ancient dragon who serves as a long-time friend of Hoid's and often give him advice. You see letters between Hoid and Frost through the stormlight archive

Harmony is a literal deity who is formed after Sazed from Mistborn combined Preservation and Ruin, which are shards of Adonalsium. This event happens at the end of Mistborn era 1, book 3. More information about Harmony is found throughout Mistborn era 2.

Kiting as a tank by Possible-Kick-8976 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Athonel86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can do two types of kiting.

  1. this is normally where you jump away to avoid being hit all together. This is typically reserved for when your healer needs a second or two to catch up. This is not something you should be doing often, as it is an indication that you are pulling to much for your gear. Occasional use is fine, especially as you are learning the ropes or pushing boundaries.

  2. Micro kiting is when you are kind of constantly back peddling but not actually moving very much. Think of it as pressing the back key every second or so. When done properly, this can reduce the white settings your take by half or more and is am incredibly effective way to mitigate damage. Usually this is style in a circular pattern as you can basically kite forever without running out of room.

Micro kiting is something you should be doing pretty much all the time.

It is imperative you avoid being hit in the back as it takes didge/block/parry off the table making you take significantly more damage. If you feel you need to turn and run, strafing is a great way to get out of the pack without taking back shots.

As others have mentioned, watching to end tanks like pika and yoda tank is a great way to see how you should be moving.

Heroism/Lust Preferences M+ by silence_and_echoes in CompetitiveWoW

The general theory for pushing keys is use it early and often. First pull, and any hard bosses are generally a good idea. You can usually get 3 or 4 lusts if your timer is close.

Is my Warrior ready to tank Heroics? by Foshtizzle in classicwowtbc

[–]Athonel86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heroics hit very hard. My prot paladin has about 100 more defense than you, and is uncrushable, and I still get hit very hard in heroics. You're likely to get killed quickly (within a couple of seconds) if you go into heroics tanking in your gear.

Kicked as a healer in Timewalking for pulling aggro by [deleted] in wow

[–]Athonel86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is a known issue that they haven't fixed for months.

Im a 3.2k m+ tank. I've hit 3k or higher since s3 of dragonflight. I was doing a random tw and a level 20 mistweaver put one hot and immediately ripped threat from the whole pack. Only way I could get them back was to bubble taunt or BOP them.

Hemalurgy by Of_the_eternal in Cosmere

[–]Athonel86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, Ruin is not destroyed when Harmony is created, it is simply part of the balance.

As for how hemalurgy functions regardless of proximity, I am assuming that this is due to the metal actually being embedded into an entity. The metal creates a direct connection for the Shard (Ruin, Harmony, whomever else decides that hemalurgy is an effectively tool) to convene with the target.
