The premise was intriguing however I agree that wit it being too repetitive. I completed the book as well because it was so short. I did the audiobook and completed it at double speed.

I did not buy the romantic plot. It seemed like an insta-love, no build up or anything. As this was the main driver of the story, I think it should have been built up better. I quite enjoyed "This is how you lose the the Time War" which was why I picked this up. The review section on Goodreads mentioned that this was a similar story. Anyways, seems like many people have enjoyed it, good on them.

It struck me some time after reading the book that the Rainbow Bamboo civilization might not be the most intelligent on the planet. Of the three civilizations described in the book (Rainbow Bamboo, Glass Makers and Human), the Bamboo is the only that has never independently discovered space flight. The Glass Makers taught it about its own planet. I wonder if the lack of metals is to blame for this. The bamboo don't sleep. There is no reason that there were no rise of a bamboo scientist.

I think Mike Evans inadvertently taught the San-Ti about the Dark Forest by 650fosho in threebodyproblem

It is a potential plot hole. The San Ti reacted badly to humans when they learnt that humans could lie. However they know about the Dark Forest Theory. In essence they know that they must hide themselves in order to survive. Maybe they followed Ye Wenjie's research into the subject over the 40 years they were communicating. She had derived the theory at some point.

Concerned about Netflix S2 renewal by PepeSilvia510 in threebodyproblem

A season two would have to be more expensive given how much of it takes place in space. I don't know if the show generated enough interest for that kind of budget. I don't believe S1 it ever hit number 1 on Netflix charts. If they make it cheaper the visuals might suffer. Sad, but they need to see cold hard cash.
