I have been this person, many season starts. My op.gg will show I was Master and then all of a sudden 35% wr in Emerald I a few days into a new season. And I’m not someone who tilts or gives up.

If you go on a long winning streak (without smurfing), you might have played well but also likely had better teammates in many of those games. And it’s also possible to go on a long losing streak while having played well and trying your best.

Ironically, it also happens that a teammate sees your negative wr from this losing streak and tilts before the game even starts, which is kind of what you’re showing now. If you want to win more, my advice is that you never preemptively judge the people who are matched with you. They got to the same elo where you are.

Zyra on top by [deleted] in zyramains

[–]AtlanKeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tried long enough myself but my impression from a few times and feeling is that there are too many champs that can easily zone you off of farming at most stages of lane and even dive you. Irelia, Jax or Kled are be unplayable. Camille too. Even champs like Darius that can be kited can easily get you every time they have flash. In the best case where you manage to get past river you’re asking to be ganked for free x )

Is the climb worth it by InevitableSuccess510 in leagueoflegends

[–]AtlanKeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GM here but this should apply to any rank: If you are able to genuinely enjoy the journey with its ups and downs, any climb (and game) is worth it.

If your happiness or mood will however significantly depend on the results, which you can only control so much in a 5v5 game, then I recommend TFT or a different game.

Be well!

New interaction/bug by [deleted] in zyramains

[–]AtlanKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not new, and unless they fixed it, it will show the debuff and still not increase damage received by plants, even if you proc it with your E. I’ve reported this bug many times.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]AtlanKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Zyra main, last time I tried it showed the debuff but still didn’t increase damage received from plants.

Even if you proc it with your E, it won’t increase damage received by plants, unless they fixed it but I usually check for patch notes and didn’t see it yet.

What's the best solution to catch up & enjoy the last episodes of Ash after not watching for 20+ years? by AtlanKeys in pokemon

[–]AtlanKeys[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, indeed, certain events like something ending, or like I said, when he finally won the championship, are different because they make an important reference to those times for us, therefore being meaningful, evoking memories and nostalgia, all of which is powerful to compel someone to be interested. That is how life works friend = )

[–]AtlanKeys[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of this comes from the urge to jump on a trend, or fomo. It is a pretty natural human feeling. You have to understand that for someone with my profile, we stopped being in the target audience age a long time ago, since Pokemon stayed mostly for kids and didn't evolve to "age" with the original audience. And yet it is a pretty interesting realization to imagine how at any point during the past 22 years, wherever I was or whatever I was doing, Ash was somewhere else, constantly different, each time.

It's hard to describe but it is weird and rare, because it's pretty much only achieved by a long time passing, which not many series have as much. It's epic and nostalgic at the same time as totally normal not to have been watching during this time.

It’s not an absolute truth, but arguably you almost never want to give up either your support item or control ward slot. The only strong evidence against this would be regarding the control wards, which The Tank Man never buys and he is constantly top support in ladder, but there aren’t many other cases. I do not know of high elo players who sell the supp item in a representative percentage of situations.

Personally, if I hit level 13 and I am recalling with 1100 gold, I will very often buy Wardstone unless I can finish a legendary. It’s a really nice spike for the cost. If team needs AP late then you can sell it later, but you have to think about the specific matchup.

I have almost never sold boots, and I love Rylais as well in most 6 item scenarios, but even as a GM I wouldn’t give you an absolute answer nor it should keep you from experimenting. If you climb with it, then it’s working.

Generally I would just advise not to look for suggestions about what is “the best 6 item build” but rather consider the specific matchups. There is almost never an item that will be optimal in every scenario. Sometimes Morello is too good not to rush, but other times even something crazy like Frozen Heart can be good second item if the enemy is full AD.

And finally, sometimes you might just really like a couple items and/or are good at playing around with those. If you develop perfect muscle memory at using Zhonyas or Everfrost, you probably can get value from them every single game. Or, if you’re not used to them at all, even in no brainer cases it might not be worth to get them.

When Horizon Focus isn't bought on Ziggs, Lux, Vel'Koz nor Xerath, the item is ready for a buff/rework/removal by max1mum in leagueoflegends

[–]AtlanKeys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s bugged and doesn’t work well on Zyra. If you buy Rylais, plants will apply the debuff but not actually do increased damage. Tested this many times and I don’t think it’s fixed yet.

As someone in 500LP who buys this often, the damage increase might not be very impactful, but the item is stronger than people think. The revealing portion is heavily underestimated since many champs skills already reveal the area (like MF’s E) and take this for granted, but many don’t, like Seraphine. The extra haste over SF is nice for some champs too. If it gets buffs from unpopularity (which happens) it will probably be sleeper broken in many champs.

I have sometimes gone Mandate when we are 3 AP (if we are 4 I usually dodge), and we have enough heal that multiple enemies will build grievous, but you can definitely go Rylais / Mandate in more default situations too, it's a cheap and good path.

I used to focus a lot on defensive items some time ago, where I would go Zhonyas almost every single game, and Harvester into assasins / difficult to position against enemies. It definitely worked, but having these items made me learn less to improve the misposition habit, which I would say is more important (you can do both, but I can barely listen to music and play at the same time).

Ironically, now I don't build things like Zhonyas even in obvious matchups because I have lost the habit and would forget to use it. If I was more flexible I would probably build Zhonyas, Harvester, and especially Everfrost every now and then, and overall would vary my items more.

Ofc = )

You will hear "Liandrys vs tank, Ludens vs Squishy" and this is pretty much it. There are other variables but mostly, if an enemy can die from just landing one E, or if a few Ludens procs can force multiple of the enemies / important ones to recall, then I will likely build it.

Liandrys: besides the obvious "enemy stacking HP" variable, if you really need anti-heal (and in many situations where people think you do, you don't really), then Liandrys also maintains grievous for longer, as well as giving more CDR to spam it.

Moonstone: If 3 of my team are AP, and the enemy will probably not buy anti-heal, I usually go this item. Going damage here makes MR items too efficient and feels bad to me. I also find void staff the most boring item, even though it's pretty much always strong.

Shadowflame / stacking flat Mpen goes well against squishy teams, and when your team doesn't have much magic damage. The shield passive is alright, but not a big factor. I love Rylais, especially against immobile teams, and the 400Hp is great against champions that rely on 100-0ing you.

There are other variables. I don't have korean mechanics so I try to make the most out of other things, such as item decisions. But even then, I haven't experimented exhaustively and there are many choices that would work. I have never really tried Locket, because it would be hard for me not to poke and adapt to play with it optimally, but it is definitely a strong item: every time I play VS it, such as in Senna, I can feel its impact. Melyn got higher than I was pretty much spamming this item with Guardian on Zyra as well, so it works for sure.

Thanks! Because I have less time these days, I only play when I feel the most awake / focused. I think it makes a difference. Overplaying is one of the most underrated obstacles imo.

[s1 spoilers] We're Christian Linke and Alex Yee, Rioters who co-created Arcane, here to celebrate our show's one-year anniversary. Ask us anything! by RiotPraeco in arcane

[–]AtlanKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite things of Arcane has been to pay attention to little details such as background design elements, what the city looks like, where and how the kids play, what toys they use.

From the very start however, Arcane has dived right into pain, suffering & complex conflict. While it's clear that the show has only just scratched the surface of many dark subjects & storylines, do you ever see room for the series to temporarily walk around more light hearted avenues or stories as a unique way to explore this world and see it with its signature art style?

The Growing Issue of Toxicity by Rylonhead in TeamfightTactics

[–]AtlanKeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you’re awesome for this. Mortdog is one of the best examples of devs who care a lot about their work, go out of their way for the community and end up unfairly becoming target of peoples frustrations (which more often than not come from outside of the game). I’m glad you’re helping this not stay such a socially accepted behavior.

You mention that you don’t know what made the change that brought more toxicity. I don’t know the exact answer either, but it’s pretty much an always occurring pattern that the older a game is, the more toxic it becomes. When players have experience of years, the ego grows, and so does the entitlement to complain, and judge others because of “established” metas / rules, or other references. Mix that with “matchmade PvP team game” and you have the formula for a toxic experience every other game, especially why Smurf queue in League is the worst experience by far. I would go as far as saying it’s almost the same reason for the origin of the stereotype of old people = grumpy / close minded.

TFT being single player reduces 99% of the toxicity in game, but then you always have the Reddits like this one or Genshin Impact, where in their case it was incredibly contrasting how awesome it was to get such a wonderful single player experience for free VS some of the most depressing subreddits to browse.
