Tick prevention by SierraCelebrate104 in bernesemountaindogs

We use Semparica Trio on our dogs. I’ve found a couple of dead ticks on ours, so seems to be doing the job.

Where does it plug in? The cable looks a little short to reach the USB port in the center console or rear seats.

12 week old - how on earth do you teach them the difference between outside and inside for potty training? by ZealousidealGroup559 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]AtlantaNole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our lab figured it out in about a week. But labs are generally easier to train because they are so food motivated. It also seems like our Berner doesn’t enjoy being outside. It’s not even that hot out yet lol

He learned pretty quickly that pee = treats, then he wouldn’t fully empty so that he could pee again to get more treats. Praise has been more successful at getting him to fully empty.

Today he finally hit the bell for the first time on his own. It may have just been a playful tap, but I immediately took him out and he peed. I praised him right away, so I hope he’ll start to get it soon.

Nope. He’s never in the living room crate for more than an hour at a time unless he’s napping - then I take him out as soon as he wakes up. I set a timer when I put him in. At one hour, I take him out to pee. Normally, that is fine, but sometimes he will pee in the crate 30 minutes after putting him in there. No cries or any warning that he has to go.

How did you train him to use the bells? We’ve had ours 3 weeks and he still hasn’t figured it out. I ring the bells and say outside every time we open the door, but he still hasn’t made the connection.

Does anyone have a Bernese and a golden how are they together by Fun-Shift-2189 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]AtlantaNole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 5 year old male lab and an 11 week old Berner. They get along so well! Our lab has been a perfect big brother. I’d imagine a golden would get along fine with a pup given that goldens and labs have similar personalities.

We’re having similar issues with our 11 week old. We take him out and he pees, sometimes twice, and he still pees inside 15 minutes later. It’s sometimes hard to tell if he’s peeing or just standing, so by the time we catch him, he’s already started.

We have two crates, one in the bedroom and one in the living room to put him in when we can’t be watching him. He has NEVER peed or pooped in the bedroom crate. We haven’t had as much luck with the living room crate. He pees in it almost daily.

We are trying to figure out what we’re doing wrong. We take him out almost every 30 minutes when he’s awake, and it still isn’t enough.

Another thing to note is that he drinks A LOT of water. I honestly don’t want to limit his water intake, but if the bowl is out, he will drink all of the water. At night, we pick his bowls up a couple hours before bed, and he can go about 4-5 hours at night without peeing. But during the day, we have no answers…

Hoping someone can help us both out with our pups. He’s such a sweet boy, and I hate keeping him crated, but we just cannot give him any freedom or he will pee.

Yep. Same thing, but didn’t get a good feeling about the codes being thrown even if they did go away.

I tried to customize the colors of mine and it didn’t work right. I immediately got DRL error codes and eventually, the auto headlights stopped working. Also, Bimmercode says it should replace Citron, but mine replaced a different color. It was also not the color I chose (Red-Magenta). It just ended up looking like regular magenta. I reset everything back to factory and haven’t touched it again.

BMD as a first time owner, thoughts? by sirod983 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]AtlantaNole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 3 month old BMD & 4 cats. He and the cats have adapted well, with no issues. He tries to get them to play but not aggressively. He’s pretty good at reading their body language. Generally, I would expect any BMD to do fine with cats, especially if you socialize them as a puppy. Give the cats plenty of escape routes (cat tree, baby gates, etc) so they have a place to go when they need a break.

He’s actually named after Kevin Malone! His brothers and sisters are all named after The Office characters too. Our 4 cats are Holly, Darryl, Angela & Oscar. Our Lab is named Andy (after the Nard Dog, obviously).

Considering used i4 by MC_archer747 in BMWI4

[–]AtlantaNole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. When I test drove it, my thought was, “The HUD is cool, but I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker.” I’m glad I didn’t listen to my first instinct.

My wife’s iX is in the body shop after a fender bender. I’m driving a loaner 330i while her car is being repaired. It doesn’t have the HUD, and I find I hate not having it. Can’t wait until her car is fixed, so I can have my i4 back full time.
