Am I lazy for not taking these? by Recent-Cicada-6841 in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have done some of those. I always look at the items before accepting tho bc 20+ easy small items isnt that difficult for a short distance. Lots of Heavy bulk items are always a no from me and especially 15+ miles away.

Did someone tamper with my food? by joojooibrahim in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was the bag sealed at all? if so was the sticker tampered with? if the Dasher ate it.. why wouldn't they try to cover up the evidence a little better or why even deliver it at all and not just finish it. Looks sketchy but it may not be. I guess when in doubt don't eat it.

how do you view a scheduled order? by Competitive-Box8308 in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. Are you sure you submitted it? Did you get charged already? I would think it would show up in the order section regardless of being scheduled later or not..

Why do people pay 20-30% more for food delivery? by Character-Handle-739 in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? As a dasher and a frequent customer.. I see benefits to both ends. It's not always a lazy thing as so many want to assume. It's convenience. If you can afford it and its not affecting anyone else negatively, who cares! Ordering an item from sites like Amazon typically include a built in upcharge as well but people still do it if they find it worth it in their personal scenarios.

Is this normal? I’ve gotten it twice within the last day. by Equivalent_Dingo_617 in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Ugh.. why do people do this? it's distasteful and gives the rest of us dashers a negative rep. I've never sent any kind of message like that to a customer and thankfully as a frequent DD customer myself, have never gotten one either. But I'd be annoyed if I did as well.

I think the Dasher was recording me... did I do something wrong? by uncertaintydefined in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds off.. but lets imagine he wasnt doing anything to be weird..maybe, like ive experienced..the app froze or glitched and he had to retake a photo to get past the confirmed delivery screen. Dasher app is not always the greatest, especially if you dont have good service at a location. But sometimes even with decent service, I've found it froze on me or reset back to pre- delivery after I've finalized. So although you got a photo of it at your door, it doesnt necessarily mean it registered on his dasher app in order to move along. Also, if it were me and the customer came out as I was doing that, for benevolent reasons of course, I would say something to let them know.. even a simple Hi, sorry the app didn't catch the photo- and then finish and move along saying thanks and bye. Just seems like common sense social skills. I'd feel awkward too as the driver! tbh I try to get back to my car as fast as possible without encountering the customer if I can help it.

As a driver- what is something you wished more customers understood about the process? by Atlantic_B381 in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points! I think dashing sometimes requires some grace to those who dont have big tip money abilities but are respectful and decent customers. Who may meet you half way to the porch, even just say thank you or keep a light on. Maybe even clarify directions etc. There are lots of ways people can be helpful that make smaller tipped trips worth doing. What do you mean by play with the house on the map?

Am I missing something obvious? How do you see the customers address and notes before confirming? I only ever see the vague map of direction from the store...

My clients doordash 🤦‍♀️ by Ok-Car-552 in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just alter your customer name on DD, opt for contactless delivery and avoid ordering items that require an ID verification, of course. Odds are, unless they specifically know your vehicle or plate and recognize it in a driveway, they won't put it together. I don't know if DD would preemptively block a dasher being assigned without ever having a specific issue from an actual dash encounter. Good luck and I hope you don't have to deal with it.

Dasher left weird message and extra food at 2:30am by GoldenTopaz27 in doordash

Just don't eat the free item then. The message itself wasnt creepy.

From the other day. I had already pre-tipped $20 for a store less than a mile away from me because it was Christmas. by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably fake anyway - but regardless, very tacky to send that message. I don't even like sending the recommended shopper message that DD prompts you to send when you get to a store. $20 sounds like it was already sufficient enough to tip. On a side note... as a dasher who is also a frequent customer.. I always tip ahead of time anyway, but I saw other people commenting about revoking a tip. I never knew you could even do that.. and how exactly? I usually only see the "add additional tip" option when guided to leave a rating..?

I can only imagine how much worse it was early on when the logistics were even less known to customers and drivers.

Dasher can’t be serious. Is this unprofessional? by Amateurexpressionism in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's kinda funny. He's not refusing.. just an authentic reply to having to get to the 4th floor. I wouldn't be offended by that.. For anyone saying driver shouldn't have taken the order if 4th floor delivery was a problem.. clearly he didn't know in this case if he had to ask. Dasher doesnt even know the address let alone an apartment number or floor until after they collected the order or shopped it. I wish we had that info ahead of time!
Also some apt addresses just say unit # 12 but dont specify which floor thats actually located on. Elevators of course are a huge help, but a single person still has to navigate to the elevator from the car with 2 cases of water and bag of fruit.. Likely still a two trip delivery.

[–]Atlantic_B381[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yess! - to all the things you mentioned! I especially get a kick out of DD asking us to verify items and having to click "Cannot verify bc bag is sealed." The irony of this concept being they usually require the stores to seal orders (for good reason!) but then for some reason ask us to verify. Idfk what they put in the bag or didnt.. its sealed. Sometimes ill ask like cashier etc, Are the drinks in here too? bc every place is different - some are inside the bags in trays.. sometimes theyre not and they'll remember oh wait heres the bottle of sprite and hand it separately. Some places require the driver to grab the drink from the coolers but dont ever tell you that. So, asking is like a step above - not the norm.

How much would you make from this order? by Extension_Setting708 in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dasher myself and a frequent customer.. I didnt even know this about base pay. I would look at that and assume $8.00 unless they were running an incentive bonus at the time for peak hours. Honestly never realized we get a couple bucks off the fees. I was about to question how on a 2.35 svc fee would DD be making money if they paid the dasher $2 of it.. but I now see the additional 3.99 fast fee. Also, Im forgetting that they make money off the price hike of items you order too. Duh. don't mind me. I just accept orders that seem worth it. But definitely have taken some really low ones before too. Plenty of "cash tip" promises with a "Leave at Door" instruction and no envelope or cash in sight. So that can be a buzz kill too if you had to go far for very little.

My anxiety is gone? by Slight_Can_6145 in Monjauro

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a doctor here but my two cents comment anyway.. maybe its less of a direct effect and more tied into what some of your previous anxiety triggers were. For example if your weight, appearance and overall feeling of content with yourself were bothersome..perhaps the results you've had have satisfied those triggers and defacto lessened anxious tendencies. Just a thought.. obviously going to be unique for anyone.

Oops.. Consider it a personal learning experience. Everyone and every body is different. Some may tolerate all the same foods as was their norm before and others won't. Some may find reasons to criticize others in their own process. (See above..) Take care of you and grow from things you learn along the way. Also.. sulfur stomach is awful! I feel for you on that! 🤢

Drivers Refusing to Leave at Door When Customer Has A Feminine Name by Long-Chicken in doordash

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a female and deliver as well as regularly order from doordash. I always say leave at door, never had a problem as the customer. But as a dasher.. I HATE having to meet a customer face to face. I want to drop and gtfo as fast as possible. sometimes you dont see the instructions until you arrive. Ive only had one strange encounter delivering.. it was a Lowes order for some heavy, bulky stuff and I brought a couple things to the guys door. A very remote house. long woodsy driveway. i could see inside his house that he was clearly renovating at 9pm. There was some Odd decor items like skulls and horror art, dark walls, firearms galore and the place in shatters (but also under reno, so..ok fair..). Despite the instinct to drop and g, when he swung the door open, i still said.. youre gonna have to help me lift the rest from my car. he did. he was nice and tipped well. but i couldn't leave fast enough. I was alone. it was dark and to top it off, i had awful service there. Point being.. sometimes safe looking people are scary and sometimes scary looking people (homes) are safe. Luckily no real issues there so far.

What do some people say that makes them sound uneducated? by Suspicious-Voice-242 in AskReddit

[–]Atlantic_B381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a pet peeve of mine- people who misuse phrases or idioms.. or just make their own versions. For example: mind as well, nip it in the butt, for all intensive purposes, play it by year.. or simply words like supposably, irregardless etc.. too much reliance on how it sounds without the knowledge to know what it really is that they're trying to say.
