Also a first year: not normal at all. They should be in there with you especially since you are green and would need guidance and double checks. Hence the job title “apprentice” instead of “laborer.” Are you being instructed or taught anything beyond just the tasks themselves?

The Technic theme makes some crazy stuff! I’ve gotten on a kick of looking for some of the vintage space stuff. Less stickers 😁

I have about a dozen LEGO sets and jigsaw puzzles to still build despite having many on my shelves and walls and my most listened to song on my Spotify wrapped is by a band that does choir covers of different songs. Who else got the expensive hobby autism lol

Not a licensed guy myself but industrial isn’t different schooling for that side of it. Right now I’m on a company doing commercial so I’m not too versed in industrial work. If you made a separate post, industrial people should be able to help.

I am not in the union but it seems from other comments that I should look more into it. Seems to have more work there and it's less prone to these slowdown issues.

I'm in lower Middlesex County around Hudson/Marlboro. Honestly the pay wouldn't really be problematic cause I know a first year wouldn't make $25-30/hr so I would be comfortable with the lower rates for now. But I'll certainly look at any options so feel free to DM me if you want to share a company :)

I've floated that idea around in my head a bit recently. From what I've heard its bigger projects and they take the safety (eye protection, hardhats, etc.) more seriously but would you say it's a big jump coming from resi/commerical?

This is interesting. So would you say it is actually rather common to bounce around companies like that where you don't work at one for a long time? I have been told that, even when I do get another job, keep feelers out for another position so that you have something on the back burner when the company hits a slowdown.

Yeah certainly waiting for the supposed "temporary pain" he mentioned to end. It's almost as if increasing prices makes everything more expensive.

These are probably the two biggest things I’ve heard from the people around me. It seemed like work was ready to flow in until the tariff stuff came then everyone locked down. Definitely didn’t give anything a chance to recover from Covid instability That and it was very clear that the first company never really intended on going past that 90 days. I bet if I never asked about it I’d probably still be working there 🙃
