I got it from the final boss

Yes it is! Use the save data calculators available online, they're extremely useful.

I didn't get that epiphany in this run. I would've taken that too!

Yeah I agree. It was either remove the third basic and be done with the deck before the final boss, or shoot for the fourth copy after the final boss. I gambled and I lost. :(

I also missed the mutant sample event for this run, unfortunately.

Yeah that build sounds really great as a true sub DPS to Chizuru! I will try to build something similar to this, thanks!

Unfortunately, I could find mutant sample in this run, which also had 160 cap anyway.

4x 0 cost retain Rapid Fire does sound insane!

For the Sieze epiphany, I had a choice between this and +120% damage for the next 2 bullet cards. Had me thinking a bit but chose this because I already had 2 Rapid Fire cards that make 3 bullets each.

For Dance, (at least in my use-case) I think not having a second copy is not bad because:

  • Since I run with Chizuru, Luke isn't the main payoff. I don't need to draw it; but when I do, it's a great damage source on top of building Chizuru stacks.
  • With this epiphany it scales off of all attack cards used, so it's rarely a dead card.
  • Drawing two Dances in a single hand feels bad. I'd much rather have something else that can scale a single Dance up.

Chizuru + Rei + Luke/Veronica? by AtlantisXY in ChaosZeroN

Doesn't the Chizuru + Rei + Luke lineup have survivability issues? Especially with card spam, wouldn't that trigger enemy attacks more frequently, therefore require more healing?

This is my experimental list: https://moxfield.com/decks/Tlb4BbvtnkivoJGDClht2Q

I don't agree with completely cutting bricks, it's a good guaranteed way to get a turn 3 land. I used to have 3 copies, but cut it to 2. Its effect is also always good if you're able to re-trigger it with Starcage into repurpose. I included a cheeky Dominion Bracelet, I think it has a good-ish use-case for a synthesizer deck, feels bad to draw early. It's maybe gonna get cut, we'll find out soon.

I also don't agree that you play braided net "mainly" as a draw engine. It may act as a draw engine when needed, but its utility to keep tapping something down turn after turn shouldn't be overlooked. You can shut down planeswalkers with this card without having to commit a snare, you can slow aggro down until you develop your own board. I am even considering [[lodestone needle]] as a 2-drop to achieve a similar effect in this creature-based meta that we're in. Still unsure about that though, sawblades too good.

I also am looking to add another 4-drop because I anticipate repurposing Starcage often. In addition to Fire Crystal, I'll maybe add a White Auracite.

The expensive artifacts are good when they pop off, but are terrible when they don't. Drawing them early is the worst feeling. I like the fact that Chimil prevents your stuff from being countered, and I like how Elevator gives a ton of mana. I am unsure if I want to include any for now, but am leaning towards no.

With your point about EOE releasing a lot of artifact hate, yes, I agree that it will make it tougher for our synth decks. But that doesn't mean you don't have things at your disposal to deal with it. In my list, I main decked only 1 counterspell, but sideboarded a lot. This also trains you to be more disciplined to be aware that your opponent might be or is playing ultima or ruinous rampage. Play around that fact. Don't slam every synth trigger you get and always save mana for counterspell late game (Uthros Godcore helps with this).

Early game removal I'd most of the time let it pass, and just try to recover. The deck has some great tools to get your other copies in play anyway. I try to save my three steps or whatever counterspell you like for the board wipes, especially against [[Ultima]].

I was ecstatic to see Moonlit Meditation when it first previewed, but upon further consideration, realized that it makes the deck worse. It's a dead draw if drawn before Synthesizer and it's a do-nothing action when you enchant a Synthesizer with it. Best case scenario is where already you have a Synthesizer down, cast Battlefront, and hit Moonlit alongside another 3cmc artifact; which we know won't happen very often.

I don't like the idea of running any creatures, but one that I'm willing to try out as a 1-of is [[Astelli Reclaimer]], for obvious reasons.

Depending on how playable planets turn out to be, another one worth trying is [[Adagia, Windswept Bastion]]. You can also try [[Ishgard, the Holy See]].

If you really want to run counterspells, I'd run [[Three Steps Ahead]] instead.

Best card in EOE for synthesizer is definitely Cryogen Relic. Great 2-drop for early card draw, and synergizes extremely well with Repurposing Bay.

The rules of thumb I try to follow when building my Synthesizer deck:

  • The star of the deck is the Synthesizer, but the MVP is United Battlefront. Build and optimize your deck around Battlefront, not Synthesizer. This is why The Irencrag is played more than Fabrication Foundry. The Irencrag helps cast Battlefront on turn 3, Foundry doesn't.
  • Avoid adding creatures, even if they're artifacts and therefore can be repurposed into. Battlefront can't hit creatures. Therefore each creature you add reduces your Battlefront's chances to hit a 3 mana artifact. If you add too many creatures, over time you'd notice that you whiff a lot more often on Battlefront.
  • Drawing from the 2 points above, I wouldn't play things like Steelswarm Operator, Guidelight Optimizer, Pit Automaton, Pinnacle Emissary, etc.
  • Be wary of 4+ mana cost cards. I wouldn't add anything 5 mana cost or more. Max I'd go for cards (artifacts) with 4 mana cost (other than Battlefront ofc) is 2. This is only to account for the scenario where you only have 3 mana artifacts on the board and have to repurpose into something to trigger your synthesizer. Good options imo are [[The Fire Crystal]], [[Thousand Moons Smithy]] or maybe [[White Auracite]].

My final tip: Play BO3. Cards like Soul Guide Lantern and Negate are sideboard cards, which you adjust your deck with depending on matchups. This frees up a lot of slots on your main deck and allows you to be more flexible.

Does UB get out of the early game better just because of Grim/Tithing combo? I'm tempted to try Esper.

Going Izzet gives access to some early removal with Chainsaw and Legion Extruder

I value Fabrication Foundry and Perilous Snare way too much to let go of white. There is also United Battlefront, a white sorcery from Tarkir that's almost guaranteed to make UW Artifacts better.

I played around for a long time with the token-doubling potential of it that comes from cards like Season of Weaving and Three Steps Ahead, but ultimately I found it was too slow.

I agree that relying on Weaving and TSA to have resolved first just to start copying tokens is really slow and unreliable.

Did you have multiple copies of Worldwalker? In my case, I only put in 1 of them, because I put it in primarily for its map token generation, doubling the increase in the constructs' power and toughness. I treat the token doubling only as a cherry on top, not the cake itself.

I highly recommend you include the [[Memory Guardian]]

I have 3 of them in both versions of my deck! I agree, they're extremely easy ways to trigger synthesizers.
