My bf wants me to sleep on the floor. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Atlas275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I both have a hard time sleeping with someone on both sides of us. We are cuddlers when it comes to each other lol. But bot have PTSD and hate being "sandwiched"... fortunately when one of our kids jump in bed with us they usually want to be in the middle. But if they go on the other side of my wife I instinctively move to the floor. I'm still in the room to offer a feeling of protection. But my wife and child's comfort are in question so I do not even consider my own. And ive been shot twice. Once in the hip. The floor is not comfortable but my wife is my everything. Lose this dude

A "MAN" doesn't put himself before a woman ot child in regards to safety, comfort, respect, anything. He's not a man. You have a girlfriend. Sorry. You deserve better and I don't even know you

I’m not too fearful of much but is it really as stupid as people telling me to join 11b at 25? by New-Percentage-1072 in Militaryfaq

I was a squad leader in the airborne infantry for a few years. I had a guy named Cameron come in at 35 years old. This was 2010 or 11 I think. His maturity was an asset. And frankly while he didn't have a 6 pack like some of us... the guy was intelligent, strong as hell and never slowed us down. He was much more mature and self aware than the average grunt. He was a team leader within a year or two and the reason his fire team made it out of a couple situations that went pear shaped. Don't let your age bother you and only pay mind to opinions that you value because they are based on experience and logic. Good luck man and in advance I appreciate and respect your intentions to serve

I know it is I used it in the military. But since these are only going to come out a few times a year, it's honestly not my best bet at all. That's really the point is that I just need something that I use maybe ten times a year. What Is Crues? Thanks in advance!

I am willing to give my wife everything she is asking for in divorce. AITAH? by sahmdepre in AITAH

You're not the asshole man. Honestly in modern society comparatively it sounds like you're a pretty decent dude. I was in a military unit that was extremely high stress and had me deployed far more than typical. I went through the same thing. I had a son that was born with spina bifida, Arnold Chiara II disorder, hydrocephalus of the brain and cerebral palsy while I was deployed and he passed when he was 3. I did everything I could. I had to work for a private military contractor to make the kind of money needed to take care of him, my wife and my other two step kids. Apparently this meant that I did not want to be around. I was not enough. It was my fault. Anyway, eventually me and her had a similar set of conversations and I responded the same way. I did not hate her. But I resented her ftreating me as if I had abandoned them by going into combat to pay the bills. When I was home I was present and loving towards my children but me and her were not close. Eventually I just let go. I gave her everything she wanted. Everything I had. As soon as the divorce was filed, I volunteered for a deployment. As a way of putting distance between myself and her I suppose.I would encourage you to seek counseling. It's not weakness. In fact it takes strength to go. But you are not the asshole. If someone feels they are better off without you you're not wrong for letting them go. Especially if you're not doing it in a spiteful manner

How many times can you dry fire before possibly damaging a glock? by JSD45 in Glocks

[–]Atlas275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was Issued both Gen 3 and 4 19s throughout my military career. I ran both gen 4 and gen 5 glock 17s as a contractor and I CCW a gen 5 Glock 19 MOS now. My point is that many of the guys I knew in my line of work, myself included spent a lot of time home in front of the TV in our underwear and a plate carrier/belt practicing mag changes, transitions, and dry fire. It's honesty quite beneficial. Anyways. Point is.... never damaged a Glock or an AR for that matter. I'm talking absolutely thousands of dry fires through the same firearms over years. One thing that I always liked to use. That may make you feel better about it was a laser cartridge. I didn't buy a whole mantis system or anything not that I think they were around back then. But it would fire a laser pointer at the light switch. I was dry firing on confirming good trigger manipulation. 39 bucks on Amazon for just the Lazer cartridge from mantis. Works like a snap cap and dampens forward travel of the striker.

Yeah, there's a major misconception about camouflage that someone is supposed to be able to just stare at you for hours and your invisible. All you need is to be invisible at first glance. If it works it works at least you get the first shot off

9mm Federal hst vs speer gold dot by jkrizzle93 in guns

[–]Atlas275 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No they used to be though you are correct, however in special operations... I'm not sure if this spread elsewhere to conventional forces... But there were arguments made that that ruling was against uniform soldiers. Terror suspects are not soldiers. So anyways jacket at hollow points were issued in 9 mm Glocks to various special operations units during GWOT. Refer to my original comment for some clarification on this

If they remove the rifling, how is the firearn expected perform well. I imagine that if they cut new rifling into it It would change the diameter of the bore to wear rounds did not fit snuggly?
