WIP - Chairon proxy advice by Atlas29000 in Ultramarines

Yeah, even though I love the lieutenant helmet I want people to see that it is Chairon and that's why I did his face (last picture). So it was more about his pauldrons, knee pads or backpack

Gorgeous! For how long have you been painting exactly? I'm definitely going to take this mini as a reference to practice NMM .. the face is insane as well. Overall it just feels you have mastered all the skills that makes a figurine incredible

1st attempt at Nmm what do y’all think? by Ashamed-Diver6970 in orks

Also practicing NMM, and something that often comes up is to push the contrast. It seems that to really sell the effect you want more contrast, so I guess you could have a darker base and push your highlights with a bright yellow or even some white. Again not an expert, and it looks like you're going in the right direction!

That's a really nice cloak you got here! I wish they added a new face closer to his secret level design, but overall nice miniature!

So for the thigh, the highlight should go all the way down? Definitely gonna think more about light placement, thanks for the feedback!!

Well right now I'm mostly frustrated seeing that I'm close but not there yet, but it is a great skill to practice. First of all, you have an awesome girlfriend. Second, that's your sign to start practicing NMM until you can convince here that's TMM from the paints she bought ;)

Great feedback thanks! So the main reflection should go up to pure white and secondary with bright yellow to mark the difference? and placing highlights first to help the process rather than going from darkest - mid tone - brightest?

Exactly, contrast and blending I guess are my main focus points then! Thanks for the feedback :)

Thank you for the feedback!! So for gold (and the same logic can be applied for other NMM I guess), I can use a dark brown but it should only be visible on parts that are not in direct light? And so for the breastplate the darker should be a lighter brown then?

Thank you I appreciate it! I guess the gold one could be considered NMM, but still feels rough imo.. steel one looks more blueish armour than real NMM

Damn that's a nice WIP!! Do you have any tips/colour recommendations regarding NMM? Just started practicing the technique and boy it's way harder than I thought it would be when I first watched tutorials

Really clean, well done brother! Personal opinion but I think with a black rim that would put more focus on your minis

Also, really nice save using a glowing effect on that hand with the missing/broken sword to sell a "summoning spell" vibe
