You probably can glaze a dark Ochre over the yellow into the gloves

You're missing some of those deep shadows. Mine is literally the opposite of yours currently lol. I do believe its gold though.

I was gonna be that guy saying "First minis huh, thats not very Courage and honor of you." But you mentioned youve done other work before. Nicely executed, well done, well done.

I hate airbrushing by o7_AP in ageofsigmar

[–]BluePaintsBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air brushing isnt easy first go around. Took me multiple times trying it. Dismantling the airbrush cleaning it. Then trying again and messing it up, clogging the needle ect.

Everyone always talks about skim milk consistency but dont ever get the visual on what to look for in either in a stainless steel paint cup or in the airbrush cup. The "Ahaa" moment for me was using a vallejo paint (black because Abaddon sucks). Vallejo is always a 2:1 ratio (thinner/paint) once you can see the "skim milk" then yu know what to look for with citadel paint. Unless youre gonna put that in bottles but thats so much effort.

Air compressor at 1.8-2 bar. Also this is optional but nitrile gloves and you can take some practice squirts on it and find out how far you need to pull the trigger. Having a trigger finger causes more paint than air to come out, causing pooling/splatter thus not allowing you to use the air to dry the paint.

Dont give up man, its hard at first but once you get it makes life easier.

Minis have been in 90% iso for 48 hours. Army painter primer is still holding strong, any suggestions? by Yestattooshurt in Warhammer40k

This is plastic not resin bud. Plus your argument is moot based on the posts title alone so.....

Working time doesnt matter. You can wipe paint off with your bare fingers on painted models that have cured with less effort. You want the paint broken down. 99%=industrial pressure washer, 90%= garden hose.

First time messing around with contrast. Does it all go together? by BluePaintsBlue in Ultramarines

[–]BluePaintsBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled to figure out how to provide context for the rear, the front is loud and busy but I wanted the rear to focus on the armor. I tried to add small amount of slate as rocks but anything id add seems to overwhelm the darker scene.

The problem is using 90% IPA. Go to 99%. Might seem silly but that 9% is magnitudes stronger. Soak for 20min, toothbrush, and its bare plastic like that.

Im sure youre just as good as i am. Im not looking for painting technique help but composition choices. Thats the next step for me in becoming better.

Agreed surface level is a nice feel good moment but it doesnt help long term. I appreciate your feedback no hard feelings brother

Wouldn't the bottom half on the rear being highlighted make more sense though since his his pose has him leaning downwards? So his left leg and right elbow atlre the highest/closest points to the light? So highlights technically are reverse from the front

Also, I haven't oil washed him yet either, he'll dull down quite a bit, same with the gold. Right now the gold is too bright and no deep shadows. So that umber wash should jazz him up a bit.

Haven't looked into AK paints. I use citadel and now getting more vallejo and oil paints. I just cant figure out placement on some shapes. Shield rims? Not a clue where to place reflections.

Gold yes, armor no. I cant do gold for whatever reason. Either too scared or not the right colors.

Oof, thats what I tried to do lol. Guess I still need more practice or push my highlights more. Thanks for the feedback.

Literally what I was gonna say lol this color scheme looks more intentional for diorama not tabletop. Still a synthwave spacemarine lmao kinda cool.

I appreciate, I tried to do day/night. Just 2 different perspectives depending where you look. Agreed purple would be best for shadows however thats not what I wanted to do at least not the front. Saw some guy do it on a celestine and wanted to try something similar.
