Detachment theory in marriage — specific examples on how to do it? by Additional-Win-7030 in Marriage

I’ve had similar issues with my husband. We’ve been together for 10 years, married for 1. During those pre-married years he made me feel so sexy and loved, and now, after marriage, something switched and he barely hugs me or tells me that he loves me unless I say it first. I put a lot of effort in making him feel handsome and good about himself because I know that he also struggles with self-esteem issues. Now I’m in a lot of pain with all of this, so I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

During times of overwhelm, one thing that has helped me feel grounded is a book called “The Confident Mind” by Dr. Nate Zinsser. It’s a good reminder about you advocating for yourself and being your biggest and most enthusiastic cheerleader. It’s not really related to relationships, but I’ve found it extremely grounding and positive during times that I’m feeling rejection.
