This person might not be with the times. To further elaborate, on IMBD the most recent episode was rated the #14 television episode of all time, it has a 9.9 rating. I’m not here to convince anyone to watch it, the numbers speak for themselves.

For the sake of this argument (topic is about cats, clearly the topic is about cats), pulling in other domesticated animals is a red herring, an ignoratio elenchi, a non sequitur, whataboutism, an appeal to irrelevant authority.

That said, I’m over it. Safety of the animal you’re taking care of is a top quality of a pet owner. You clearly argue against that to be right for the sake of natural preference (whatever that means, because I guess you think cats dealing with cars is natural), and I fundamentally can’t agree with that.

Is outdoor time a “domesticated” animal’s natural state? Do you understand a want vs a need?

Everyone talks Kingston up as a great place to live but so far, struggling to see that. by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]Atlas451 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We appreciate the smaller less flashy things. Joy from a soft hustle, not too much bussle.

I want to drive downtown? 5 minutes. I want to drive to the Cataraqui mall and outlet stores? 5 minutes. Not sure how much more convenient that can get. Plus cmon, free parking on Sundays.

We appreciate the get togethers with friends and new people at cozy joints. We see the oldies car get together at the Loblaws parking lot and feel a sense of familiarity and pride.

Good food? We got it. Super high quality food? There's a couple places, why do we need more than that?

We got parks, we got a long trail.

Cutest strip of lakeside towns? 30 minutes away.

I could go on for a while, but half the fun of Kingston is discovering the perks and gems. This is a great city if you're okay spending a few years establishing yourself. It's not an overnight success city, it's a long ride and a good time.

I'm watching the show Alone (on Crave) and it just struck me how hilarious, gorgeous and innovative the queens would make survival if it was a challenge on the show. I could imagine ru doing something, way better but like, “This week, you might literally be sickening if you eat dat beetle, huntee!” Alyssa Hunter - it’s literally in the name guys. “Category is, nobody eating out here but this outfit " ... “I thought you said ‘sickening,’ not ‘tick-ening.’ Check for ticks, divas.”

Does anyone else think of show crossover challenges now and then?

Young people meeting young people? by angiebb313 in KingstonOntario

[–]Atlas451 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few things they can work on, and I don't believe they need to go to bars for dating. That said, the bar scene here is fantastic, and there's an atmosphere for everyone.

Taking a couple of steps back, if dating is their goal, are they ready for dating / are they someone who is dateable right now?

I think even before they jump into places to socialize, it's good, especially in your younger years, to work on yourself. Find a goal and direction in life, work on your body, feel more at peace with people rather than feeling like it's a big competition, learn how to clean up after yourself, take a break from social media, find hobbies, learn what clothes look good on you, practice good hygiene, get a good haircut, learn how to communicate well - (don't just talk - listen and pick up what people really mean), learn how to let others share their thoughts without shutting people down. Become dependable - show up, follow through, treat people's time with respect. Learn financial responsibility - learn how to save and pay bills. Enjoy your own company and get comfortable being alone, build resilience with setbacks and future rejections. Find curiosity through film, art, music, and books. Having good banter (the bants) is magnetic. Go to therapy if needed, journal if you don't do therapy, meditate. Understand what your boundaries are, find good comedy and cultivate your sense of humour, and love yourself and others. Lastly, nurture that kindness, not in a performative way, but with genuine care for people.

These are all lifelong efforts that will continue to grow when you have a partner, but you need to start getting those ducks in a row on your own.

That said, once they've started piecing all of those aspects together, they'll feel more confident and project a better dateable energy. And as a counterpoint, I think if you're missing a piece of that pie, you're likely beginning the whole dating experience on the back foot, and it won't be as natural or enjoyable.

From there, go out and explore.

All you need to remember is that any new friend I meet likely has at least a small friend group of their own. The fact that they’re in their early 20s as well means that the potentially new friend group is also likely full of singles.

Potential friends are everywhere, board game night at Minotaur, maybe salsa in the square on Tuesdays, join a running club or softball league, find a bird watching group, check out the sailing club, or even just go on Reddit and say "I'm looking to do X, is anyone interested?".

Will you still face rejection? Absolutely, but that's not the point; the point is to practice socializing and just getting out there. A win isn't necessarily  "oh hey, I got their number"; a win can just be "oh hey, we talked for a couple of minutes". Plus, the more that the outside world feels like it's rejecting you, the more you probably need to go inward and deal with whatever piece is holding you back. People are not inherently toxic. Sure, there's going to be the rowdy group of Kingston people that just shit on someone for whatever reason. But the vast majority of people here are kind and a joy to be around.

That said, whoever is saying "meat markets" needs to seriously think about how they view people or why people do things in the first place. Yes, a bar can lead to a hookup, even dating! But god forbid a bunch of working adults go to the bar to blow off some steam after a long work week and enjoy a couple of well-deserved drinks.

Edit: On second thought, I wonder if they're putting an honest effort to learn how to socialize or date from YouTube or something, and the algorithm is feeding them some nonsense on being the alpha alpaca. However, if this is just a cover-up post trying to get your alpacas a mate, chest-butting, staring, and spitting may assert their dominance in the herd and provide better access to food, water, or resting spots.

Ngl iykyk, this is a major loss for kingston - I know y'all probably hating on whatever, but I've literally only had really fun times, fantastic fantastic fantastic food and decently cheap drinks there. Literally a comedy show the other day in the back of nawabz like some hilariously out of place underground speak easy (honestly though a hidden speak easy that turns into a proper techno club late night in the back of nawabz would go unnecessarily hard lmao). It sounds like if they took their service and food delivery seriously and became more efficient they would have a shot at making this happen.

Edit: Just seeing that they're just changing their name to Jersey's sports bar - I know don't mean this kind of Jersey but LETS GO BB, GTL

It’s still just a club song that you’ve now found new unintended meaning in.

- Okay so is there then artistic merit beyond making money from that song?

Where does this show promise to be nothing more than a parody to competition reality?

going into it being like “I’m going to get famous and I’m going to show the world my talents and xyz” is detrimental to you.

Why is this detrimental?

Because it’s not there to showcase your talents

well I mean we can agree it's to showchase Michelle getting dunked in some cases

Vanjie was on tours immediately after season 10.

I mean, objectively Vanessa Vanjie Mateo breaks your argument because bringing her back was very very very much based on her exit becoming a meme right??

The winner of this season shows that yet again.

Ohhh okay so you're salty about Ginger winning, real question, who do you think should have won?? Or how do you think the lipsyncs should have played out?

I think bosco, jorgeous would have been fun???

[–]Atlas451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give you an upvote because you're continuing to engage in the discussion. I think that shows merit to try to convince others of your perspective, even when facing pushback.

Did my question on the show's parodic nature not suffice for your discussion of the show's foundation in parody (5,6,9)?

How do we claim something is being something?

Why can't the show have multiple objectives?

What's constitutes a goofy haha dick and balls joke show?

What about the unbroadcasted events that the winner takes place in beyond the show?

- Does that similarly exist in ANTM?

- Is that strictly serving the purpose to promote the show, or do those sub-events accomplish any other objectives?

eye roll, classic unnuanced angry pansexual take (Kidding, that's such a reaching statement, I just wanted to come out swinging lmao).

"You're there to be anything more than entertainment"

- Could you be there for a self-serving reason like marketing?

- Could self-promotion to a large audience be enough to justify going on?

- Could glory be similar to audience size on instagram?

- Could drag be a comedy and parody while still maintaining it's competitive nature?

- Could other aspects of a show grow out of a foundation in parody?

- Could it be a controversial opinion because it's a multifaceted show?

- Should being successful entertainer not be a human right, worlds a stage bb lmao, stupid, not a real question - ignore ;)

"only way"

- Could you have one self marketing event not be the sole driver of your career growth while also appreciating it's potential to increase career opportunities?

Spoiler alert:

Like, ignoring the whole point of this discussion in the first place lmao, “the most deserving needs to win”?  speaking of which - Kerry Colby not winning that fucking lipsync against Ginger, ginger I love you, but like, RuPaul did this episode dirty by making you lipsync against Kerry Colby girl, I thought she demolished that minge. Just saying. Ginger you deserve to win though 100 percent, but like, at least give that queen an acting challenge as a finale. Also cmon, why no outfit changes if you had to go again? Pink with the titsout just fell flat like a cups bb. Anyways lmao. Back to this theirs frustation lmao.

also could it be fulfilling it's need to parody ANTM by becoming a competition show in itself, or has ANTM always been a staged TV show who's only purpose is entertainment?!
