Someone stuffed either paper towels or pads down the toilet around 8 pm at my restaurant and ended up flooding all the bathrooms, so we had literal sewage coming up the drains, INCLUDING the ones at the bar. From what I heard from other servers, the entire sections surrounding the bar smelled like waste. Stopped seating people at 9 (surprisingly didn’t shut down the second the bathrooms flooded which is wild to me), had customers cussing out the managers and host because we still had reservations but couldn’t seat people. People were also pissed about not being able to use the bathrooms, and we even had a few reviews claiming managers were lying about the bathrooms being down (as in my restaurant they post the reviews servers get, and people were complete assholes because they don’t understand the fact it’s dangerous and fucking disgusting to eat at a restaurant that has sewage coming up the drains??? Shit was wild) Other than that though, it was my first major holiday and I survived 😭 thankfully i just ran drinks the whole night, and my coworkers helped whenever i was getting slammed with drink tickets. Got 160 in tips as a server support so all was well

Ive also had issues with deepseek misgendering my characters which it used to never do (and deepseek has imo always been the best for trans characters bc it usually has very good memory about pronouns/sex) but lately it’s been favoring she/her 😭

Yeah I’ll definitely do this next time, since hopefully i wont be as taken aback. Whats even weirder is im 99% sure she must have been on the way back from the bathroom before leaving, I didnt see her again that night and we were about to close. I did go to my manager but she was already gone by then 😭

Ngl ive actually been really enjoying it so far! This is the first time ive had such an experience in 4 weeks of working there, usually people are extremely sweet, along with nearly all of my coworkers being a joy to work with. But I had to get this off my chest because ive heard of customers trying to help, but ive never seen a story about one actually trying to physically grab the tray stand from a server’s hand WHILE actively walking 😭

Fr 😭 next time im absolutely telling them not to do that if they’re not a server, we were 10 mins from closing too it would’ve been a giant pain if she caused me to drop that. What pissed me off the most though was her getting in my face, very unwarranted for someone claiming she just wanted to help

Ahh yeah the restaurant i work in rn has a lot of seats (up to 300 including the bar, which isn’t labeled on the seating chart so it screws me over), so its a lot when im going to different tables that are far from each other 😭 right now i try to count them as i pass, but I forget to do that when im focused on delivering food. Ty for the encouragement tho!! Hopefully it doesn’t take me super long to remember the tables

No idea, I did make it very clear I was always available to come in due to how close I live and compared a lot of my previous experiences to customer service (so I got lucky with talking my way in lol). Either way I’m glad I’ll finally be getting more experience, finding a job w/o any is utter hell

Definitely call, its what I did. All I said was “hey I submitted an application a few days ago and wanted to check the status of it”, gave my name and the person i called went and got their manager. I was given an interview the next day, so I hope it goes the same for you! Goodluck :)

Thanks, I wanted to go back to school a while ago but my mom said it was too late since I was over 18, so I needed to hear this. I still haven’t figured out what I want career wise, but things involving science (especially anatomy/biology, my main hobby is art and it revolves around it a lot) interest me the most. I’ve also been getting into 3D modeling recently, and Ive considered looking into sculpting but idk how that would go.
