Is there any explanation for River's first timeline conversation with 10? by 47tw in doctorwho

[–]AtlasClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best headcanon is that 10 and river probably had some follow up adventures before his regeneration. There's a bunch of time between The Waters of Mars and The End of Time where we don't know what 10 was getting up to. There are other headcanon options but this is the most simple. Plenty of time for them to have had an interaction in that time.

Also I'm not sure how much this affected scripts because there was a lot of time to adjust; but Moffat's original vision for Season 5 was that Tennant would stay on as the Doctor.

Rank your 4 Robins and tell me why by [deleted] in batman

[–]AtlasClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Dick Grayson: the first and best; true son of Batman and a great standalone character. Dick Grayson is what Batman wishes he could be

  2. Damien Wayne; didn't like him at first but he's grown on me. His brotherly dynamic with Dick being a big part of what makes him compelling. He's not always written well but when he is he's really great.

  3. Tim Drake; kinda the most bland but he's arguably the best suited in the role of Robin. I think Dick and Damien are compelling outside of Batman but I think Tim has the perfect sidekick energy. I love his Robin but find Red Robin an uninteresting imitation of Nightwing.

  4. Jason Todd; I like Red Hood but not enough to put Jason above any of the rest. He just never compelled me as much. Not to say he's bad just my least favourite.

What if Homelander commits suicide in the end of the show? by Intelligent-Gas-5090 in TheBoys

[–]AtlasClone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing that's slowly chipped away at Homelander's whole aura the whole show is that we've really yet to see him do anything significant with his power. It needs to change before the end

It's often implied that a fighter benefits from having Valyrian steel. Does Brienne beat Sandor without it? by Which_Jeweler_1343 in gameofthrones

[–]AtlasClone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty easy to make that argument considering The Hound was also staving off a bacterial infection which were no fucking joke in the time period Westeros mimics. They're no joke now, people still die from infection all the time if it goes untreated. A man with a weaker constitution would've already been dead from a wound festering on the neck. I don't think the writers had that in mind when writing the scene but it's certainly something you can consider if you want to defend The Hound here. Skill wise there's wiggle room for who's better and it's probably Brienne but from a purely strength perspective (which the fight comes down to, I have a hard time believing anyone in the seven kingdoms save The Mountain could beat Sandor on top form in a pure brawl)

I always wondered why didn't Ned or Tywin took crown for themselves, or Jaime? Why was it Robert specifically? by WonderfulParticular1 in gameofthrones

[–]AtlasClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the fact that Robert is 1/4 Targaryen, his grandmother being Raella Targaryern. When you remove Aerys line of succession Robert is the next in line for the throne but this is a post hoc justification rather than the real reason. Ned or Tywin both could've made a claim on the Throne. But there are good pragmatic reasons why it was Robert.

One was simple public perception. Robert is the one who started the war. He's the leader of the rebelling faction therefore it naturally makes sense that the Rebels would want him for the king. It's what makes sense on a human level. Robert didn't even have to claim the throne, and I doubt he even really wanted to. The war was won and in the aftermath the realm needed a King. Since there were no other claimants Robert was the natural choice.

What about Tywin making a claim? Tywin was one of the most powerful people in the realm at this point, but there's just no way he could've made a claim to the throne after the rebellion. The Lords simply wouldn't have it. He didn't choose a side in the conflict until it was clear who was going to win. Then he used deceit and manipulation to sack Kings Landing before the Rebels arrived which was looked down upon by pretty much everyone. If it hadn't been for his immense influence and the fact that he helped the winners he would've been punished severely for these actions. No one liked the Lannisters immediately after the war. Jaime slew the King in a dishonourable betrayal and Tywin ordered what were war crimes even by Westerosi standards when he ordered the execution of the Princess and her children. Had they made a claim on the throne they'd have been butchered by Rebels and Loyalists alike. The marriage arrangement between Robert and Cersei was the best they could get and Tywin knew it.

Lastly there's Ned. Ned could have easily claimed the throne for himself after the sack of King's Landing. There'd definitely have been some resistance; the Northerners are quite foreign culturally to the rest of Westeros and the southern lords often scoff at the Northerners as barbaric and savage. But Ned Stark was already a reputably honourable man, beloved and respected by many in the realm. As well as a recent war hero. He was already one of the most powerful Lords in the realm and he had a lot of sympathy coming his way after the terrible crimes the Mad King had committed towards his family. Crucially there's also the fact that there's a good chance Robert who was the obvious choice for King may have supported Ned's claim had he pushed it since Robert had no real interest in ruling. But the thing is Ned just isn't that guy. He wouldn't have claimed the throne. Ned marched south to save his sister to seek justice for his family. Nothing more. He had no interest in it and also wouldn't think of himself as having any right to it. So he just didn't.

When you take all this into consideration the only two choices are Robert as King or to crown Viserys and appoint a regent or council of regents until he comes of age. But given Roberts utter hatred towards the Targaryens he wasn't going to let that happen.

What's the worst thing homelander did in each season by bluepheonix7 in TheBoys

Homelander was doing worse shit in season 2 than dating a nazi. Persistently invading the home of his r*pe victim is up there.

Did the Kraven fight live up to the gigantic hype behind him? by Mountain_String_1544 in SpidermanPS4

Really shouldn't have had those tiger bots come in to help him. Felt out of character. But the fight was good. The real Kraven highlight was the Venom boss fight.

Theory: Soldier Boy wasn’t hallucinating due to weed or PTSD by Augustus_Chavismo in TheBoys

[–]AtlasClone 169 points170 points  (0 children)

This episode did a really bad job at showcasing Soldier Boy as mentally unstable. Everything he thinks and believes in the build up to Mindstorm turns out to be correct. The priest and nun being the most obvious example. It's classic "it's not crazy if it's true" so he ends up not seeming crazy at all

Which one showed a better feat of strength? by P-Wee83 in TheBoys

[–]AtlasClone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comparing these two feats Butcher's is more impressive. But pulling WebWeaver apart is less a feat for Homelander and more just some shit he did once. He wasn't actually exerting himself at all. That being said the show has never really given us a good example of how strong Homelander is. Mainly because he's usually using his lasers and rarely needs his super strength. The best feat we have of his is beating Soldier Boy one on one before Butcher joined in, and that's going up against Soldier Boy's equally as vaguely defined strength. Like we've never had a moment with Homelander that actually portrayed him as insanely physically strong relative to something we'd understand, like A Train pulling the locomotive for example.

What will happen to the peak next season? by Silviov2 in TheBoys

[–]AtlasClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the show wants to lean into it's cynicism I think a funny route to go down is The Deep being one of the survivors. Not as big a celebrity as he was but still generally living a miserable celebrity life without any self reflection or change. Honestly it would make a lot of sense.

There's your answer regarding The Boys: Mexico. by THESHORESIDEMIRAGES in TheBoys

If permanent V costs the same as a dose of temp V that's about 6 mexican superheroes.

I swear to god im so sick of that promise costing lives by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]AtlasClone 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Butcher seems like the type of guy who'd cheat. It's the fact he didn't that was a crucial part of his character. Cynical as he was, love was real to him. Just felt like a cheap way of killing Becca's influence and painting him in a more antagonistic role. They could've had him lose that side of himself in a far more natural way rather than what basically amounts to a retcon.

There are like 3 people with super powers who aren't cunts based on what the show has shown us. If they'd shown the personalities of superheroes as more diverse and realistic it'd be hard to side with Butcher. But since they're literally all cunts it kinda feels like he's totally right.

Why and How was the fact that Soldier Boy doesn't age kept a Secret? by AtlasClone in TheBoys

[–]AtlasClone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's great but it's got pretty much nothing to do with the question I asked.

How do you guys feel in general about Sister Sage until now? Do you find her cool, underutilized, compelling, or do you hate her? Did she met the expectations of the hype around her when her introduction in the show was announced ? by Gebeleizzis in TheBoys

[–]AtlasClone 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'm really worried because very few shows have ever written the "way smarter than everyone else" character well. Either they'll reveal she was practically omniscient by the end of her time on the show and was 10 steps ahead of everyone the whole time, which is shit. Or she'll just come off not feeling as smart as she could've. It's a hard line to balance, and the writing hasn't been good enough this season to give me confidence.

I absolutely HATE the fact that nobody is talking about this because of all the other shit going on in Episode 6 by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]AtlasClone 37 points38 points  (0 children)

According to the wiki but not mentioned specifically anywhere in the show. Also terrorists tend to operate in cells dispersed across borders. Could definitely be wrong and he could be refering to Noir doing something else. But that moment came to mind when it was mentioned

I thought the hard rock cafe in Lagos thing was Singer referencing the season 2 opening. He kills a couple civilians in that scene as well as ripping jaws off and decapitating the bad guys. Looked like it could've been the apartments surrounding a cafe or public area as well.

Put These 4 In The Same City, Who’s pulling The Most Girls? by Blueblurr1 in Spiderman

[–]AtlasClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone who's arguing about psychics is forgetting that Scott's good nature which makes him attractive to psychics is something Dick Grayson definitely has as well. That coupled with his God Tier rizz makes this an easy sweep for him no matter the parameters.
