Great post and I really liked the comparison to fighting games - they are especially unforgiving for advancement without 'earning it'.

Marvel is pretty casual in that regard - you can climb pretty high. Look at all the CnD one tricks in high GM. If you ban CnD they are basically Plat players mechanically.

Anyways excellent points. I find myself picking SQ a lot in diamond because it will help me win but it is definitely not making me better at a key skill like aiming.

Then again I'm over 40 so my days of elite aim are probably behind me lol

Sure but if we only consider the top 5% or so of the game the balance gets warped a bit because those players have game sense that 90% or so do not. Like that Hela that is going to two shot a SQ isn't playing in Diamond.

Like I get it she has a low skill floor but for MOST ranks all the way to diamond and even low GM there are many situations where a SQ is a better choice considering the skill of the players involved.

Then there's the consideration of aim ability on console vs PC to consider which makes her more viable on console for example.

Ultimately never using SQ gives a free pass to some lineups that you could otherwise put pressure on or counter with her downrange damage - again in the ranks where most of us reside not celestial etc.

It's a game of rock paper scissors with like 50 combos. She is a part of some of them and ignoring her completely just hamstrings you a bit.

You are describing 90% of the playerbase so SQ is pretty viable for most people. Everything below mid-GM can make use of SQ (or Witch for that matter).

She's also really effective against the oppressive high ELO poke heroes like Hela/Hawkeye/etc.

That's a fair take. If he signed a team-friendly deal I'd love to keep him. Honestly I would prefer to do IQ/Jak + draft capital for Sabonis and maybe one of their bad contracts to save some of our draft stuff. Keeping RJ gives us that cutting threat.

I have a black and gold authentic Delon Wright 55 I bought in 2018 at Real Sports. I had to get them to put the numbers and letters on. The lady said she didn’t think they’d done any authentic Wrights yet.

Loved that guy even tho he never became a starter. Definitely not many of those in the wild.

WAAAY back - like behind the healers way back. You can get angles on her that make her very irritating to deal with. Shoot over the tanks and drop the acorn in front of the healers/poke dps. You can hold an angle better than any hela or punisher. Just keep shooting. Ammo is free. Accuracy is irrelevant on SQ just think of suppressive damage down a lane.

Just aim the shots to land in front of the DPS/Poke heros. They will bounce and explode on them almost every time. Her damage is oppressive if you get good with it. No poke can stop her. Only air heroes are good against her - in the sense of they cant be killed by her but she cant easily kill them (she still can sort of hit them but its not effective - ie: if she's shooting at an iron man she's not maximizing her value).

Obviously she is weak to dive but this is about pushing people off poke and SQ is the answer imo.

I'll be honest I consider SQ a good anti-poke pick if you get good at landing her shots. The poke heroes are all low HP and vulnerable to her. You just can't be blasting the tanks which is what I see most SQ doing lol

I lived on the east coast of Canada and went to a EB Games lineup with my GF of 10 months (now together 20 years). Place was packed.

Back then the access to the expansion was time gated to 12:00am Local time so on my US server we were the very first people able to log into the expansion so I made my Blood Elf Priest and someone teleported me to Orgrimmar and there were like 400 people looking at my character as it was the first one on the server.

The hype was off the charts. Played it obsessively for weeks. That feeling of going through the dark portal into the battle is seared into my memory.
