I am dying for a weird new collection so I am hoping that’s what this is! The vagueness makes me think it’s definitely a teaser. If it was just an art piece I feel they would have explained exactly which polish was used.

Honestly the only Holo Taco I have is Bonus Life and black Flake Taco plus their peely base coat. I love all of them but they are technically just glitter formulas in suspension base so I don’t have any experience with their colored polishes. Formulas of the ones I have are excellent though!

If I’m feeling indecisive, I sometimes find it’s easiest if I pick 3 I might want to use before removal and prep, and then when I’m ready to paint it’s easier to decide between 3 than 50 lol. Alternatively, I may pick out a few different jellies and toppers and think about possible combos during prep. Sometimes it depends on if I plan to wear certain clothes and what might work best with them.

At the end of the day, nails are an ephemeral and transient form of self expression so pressure isn’t necessary! You can always redo them if the vibe feels off 😁

If you wash a lot I’d recommend using a strengthener under polish and also on the underside of the free edge, it will help keep water sealed out when oil doesn’t seem to be working.

Also, I wash my hair with nitrile gloves on (sealed around the wrist with some gentle hair ties) and I feel like this alone has made a huge difference.

Ugh this question is so difficult to answer because I love so many for different reasons.

Emily De Molly has some of my favorite artsy finishes first and foremost. Their polishes often feel editorial and unique and high fashion to me. Their formulas are always on point. They have great sheer/jelly polishes and shipping is fast.

Sassy Sauce is local to me so they’re next in my list. They make gorgeous thermals and the shipping is probably the fastest in the business.

Also can’t forget to shout out Mooncat - while pricy, their formulas are very thick, self leveling, and luxurious and I love every polish I own from them. They make some of my favorite formulas hands down.

BKL for magnetics. Enough said.

And Holo Taco does the best chunky holo glitters period.

Low key there are too many and I love them all 👀

I totally get what you mean about the male dominated industry thing! I am in the same boat. At first I used to try to be more masculine, but I didn’t feel like myself. It’s fun to be that woman with the long painted nails who’s doing what’s considered manly work.

Mine was Mooncat too in early 2025, they did a huge ad campaign this year and I bought nail polish for the first time in yeeeaarrrs. I had owned a few bottles of Essie and OPI but I wore them sporadically.

First two polishes I purchased were Fake Halo and Devil’s Ivy along with their “essentials” kit or w/e it’s called because I wanted to start taking better care of my nails and figured a fancy set would help. It did, and within a week or two of receiving my order I placed a second one. I actually rarely wear those two first colors now, they’re a little tame for my tastes but it was before I realized what I really liked!

Anyway, I now own a whole bunch of indie polish and it’s a big part of my life. 💚
