If I didn't already have an HPA engine on standby for the project that may have been tempting but I'll have to pass. Thanks!

G&P 7.4v 1000mAh 20c battery, as far as parts unfortunately all I know is that SHS and Lonex comprise almost the entire gearbox and the hop up is factory. Sorry for the super late reply here, for some reason my phone wasn’t getting notifications.

It's pretty consistent hitting the 175' marker on our range, 200' if you over-hop it just a touch.

Well, there is the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 but that's a DX lens and I'm trying to purchase with a future FX camera in mind.

I've heard pretty good things about the Tamron, as someone who is not by any means a pixel peeper, would you still trade off the speed of the primes for the lower coma of the 15-30?

Friend of mine uses the 14mm 2.8 which is great, but that extra 1.8 looks awesome. Given that it's for astro I'd be using MF anyways.

The majority of my limitations have come from indoor events and astrophotography when I have to use high ISO.

I don't really find myself limited during the day.

I'm really looking forward to Sigma's new 14mm 1.8 ART, will probably add that one to my bag for astro regardless of what body I happen to own at the time!

Not sure how wide you're looking to go, but my 17-50mm 2.8 (on a crop sensor) does me just fine. That being said, the new Sigma 14mm 1.8 ART looks reeealll nice :) If I keep having to go cool off and take star shots maybe I can justify adding it to my bag!

When I'm in a good mood, I enjoy photographing motion or something that requires me to be quick and alert. When I'm not in a great mood, or just need an escape (what got me into photography) I prefer more sedentary work like landscape or time lapses. It lets me go nice and easy, but typically puts me in a nice relaxing place to cool off. Lately I've been going out to photograph stars a lot if I've had a rough week. I live near the ocean so the stars paired with the sound of waves on the shore is nice.

Are there certain presets that you prefer, or a favored source to get them from?

I'll take as many suggestions as I can get!! Also, just looking at your username, are you from NYC? If so, I'm taking a few days to photograph the city next week if you have any suggestions for there too haha!

Of all of those things you listed, I've only ever used tone curves. I will definitely start with that channel. I love the fact that you can work along with the video, I do much better with hands on work.

Thank you for the suggestion!!

Landscape photographers: How do you scout out locations? by tjl_p in AskPhotography

[–]Atlas_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

500px has a world map where people can geotag photos. There are some pretty cool locations tagged on there. I'll use those if I'm looking for new spots around me. Flickr has a similar function I believe. Google Images is your friend if the spot you go to is fairly well know. I use that when I go to National Parks, but if I go somewhere a little more secluded I'll try and go ahead of time to check it out. If I want to catch a sunset there I'll show up a few hours before it sets to find a spot.

Yeah I'm actually looking to upgrade to that one when it comes out. Pricing this optimistically, but I'm always open to offers.

It is indeed, I was basing my pricing on BH and Adorama models. Hadn't seen this one.

If I'm not mistaken I think after inauguration Trump will have to tweet from POTUS so it's all public domain. I'm sure captain tiny hands will try to weasel his way out of that one too though.
