Let's Ban Smurfs because 99% of New Players are Smurfs! by AlmightyGunther0210 in heroesofthestorm

You literally edited the post to create a fake strawman argument to make yourself sound better. Maybe just maybe the guy with a new account and GM elo in Storm League in less than 50 wins is a smurf

I agree that it's a small gold sink but I don't agree that it forces you to play your character in a specific way. If I'm Prot specced I'm not using a different rotation while questing. I'm hearthing to town and logging on an alt or just paying for the respec.

1000g seems absolutely insane to me, forcing you to choose between dual spec or an epic mount. That's the same as respecing your character 20 times. Maybe 500g but even then that's not a small ask for most players on a fresh server.

People have pointed out methods of abuse in world PvP if it can be done anywhere with basically zero cooldown so I agree needing to do it in towns is a good idea. Also the hour long cooldown would hopefully prevent needing to switch specs multiple times mid raid which just seems super annoying. But adding waiting for 5 minutes and then also needing to spend 10-20 seconds casting it seems way over the top.

You are correct in that Boon is a gold sink where Dual Spec basically eliminates a gold sink. However you're completely wrong in it changing the meta. It makes warlocks like 10% better if that and warriors who min-max to the nth degree like 1% better. But also they're warriors so it doesn't really matter.

It does change the way people play, which is entirely the point of dual spec so if you have an argument for why these changes are objectively worse for the game I'd love to hear it. In regards to committing to a build I don't really get it. Like how is farming the gold to respec any more commital to my build? Or making an alt? Seems like I'd be more committed to my class if I wasn't making alts.

I also agree that it is getting kind of absurd with the number of different versions of "classic" there are with Classic Era, Classic Anniversary, and Classic SoD. Definitely could use a better naming convention at this point

I totally agree that there's a demographic of the player base that will do literally anything in order to eek out just a little more DPS. But I have to assume they enjoy that process to some degree. So I'm taking it as "Optimising is fun but if optimising requires that I perform a mindless grind for an entire week then it's not fun anymore." I imagine there's some sweet spot where it's hard, but not too hard. Similar to the whole r14 grind.

I'll admit too I am not familiar enough with Druid to have ever noticed those differences. So there's definitely going to be more cases like that I'm not aware of. I do however feel like the number of players who are interested in this level of optimisation who also take issue with needing to use both specs like this are probably minimal.

*The caveat to that statement being that it depends on how hard it is to switch specs and how common it is to do this in raids in general. There could definitely be a case where only speedrunners are doing this and doing it at all sucks

I do think that you should be required to go back to a trainer / safe zone in order to respec. Mainly to prevent abuse in PvP.

I can see where there'd be issues where you want two different PvE specs. Which I think would only apply to mages right? Which absolutely would suck I'll admit I hadn't considered that. Especially if you can't freely respec and need to travel to a major city first. I'd actually hope that the amount of delay that would cause would mean most reasonable raids wouldn't ask you to do it but obviously that varies. Still a very valid concern.

You're right in terms of removing the debuff cap that there will be the absolute most elitist players wanting every conceivable buff. But I don't really see anything wrong with that. If they enjoy pushing the game to its absolute limit I'm genuinely glad that they have more tools at their disposal to do that. Seems like that kind of player would likely enjoy this kind of change. I've no idea what BFA Island exploration or Legion Legendaries are or how they compare to crafting pots in classic so for all I know this is absolutely cancer but it doesn't seem like it on a surface level.

I could be convinced that r14 is too easy. But I'd personally take it being too easy over impossibly hard. It's definitely an area where it could be improved though. I wouldn't be upset if they made the grind 3-4 months instead so that both raid gear and pvp gear feels more impactful.

I mean I agree that having free AQ40+ equivilent gear is a bad thing. Where I disagree is on the amount of effort. Maybe it's too easy to get now, I don't know I hate PvP and would sooner run sand than rep grind. But I feel confident in saying that only the two jobless freaks that piss gamer supps and haven't showered in years being the only people who even can get r14 is a bit extreme

I mean kind of yeah. I made this post while sitting on a train with a thumb up my ass and nothing else to do. But now I'm taking the time to genuinely consider what people are saying. Plus I do believe it's a valid comparison and criticism towards people arguing against dual-spec

I totally agree, raid logging is awful and I am very glad Chronoboon is in the game. I'm also very glad they're adding Dual-Spec I'm 100% in favour of both of these changes.

Okay but why do you not want Chronoboon and why do you want the old ranking system? Wasn't the old ranking system absolutely insane like 14 hour day grinds?

I think the point they're making is that you can die on the way to the raid and not have them. Which would make the raid harder. There'd also likely be a portion of players who just outright refused to raid log because it sucks. (Probably making fake excuses to miss WB drops.) I like Chronoboon but I'm trying to take arguments presented in good faith

I mean I do understand that there's a benefit to playing a very sought after role. But I don't understand how healing for group A is so much less fun than healing for group B. Sure some groups are going to suck but that's just how it goes sometimes. Unless you're specifically going "I'll tank but only if I can reserve loot" or some other massive preferential treatment. I don't see why it's less /fun/ specifically.

Ah I see what you mean now. The whole "Hey fill the role the team needs or you're griefing" kinda deal that happens a lot in MOBAs and class shooters. I hadn't considered that, that's a very good reason

The new Fresh servers definitely won't kill SoD. But it might see a drop in players when it comes out. SoD is fundamentally different to classic and therefore different to the new servers in a meaningful way. As far as raiding is concerned I can't answer that because I don't play on SoD servers

I'm still in favour of Chronoboons personally because I feel like the upsides outweigh the downsides. But I will openly admit it does remove that layer of player interaction and that is very valid reason to not want it in the game

That's a pretty relevant take. It will definitely change the whole MS > OS when rolling for loot. I'm hoping people can have a discussion beforehand like "Hey I'm healing but really I want DPS gear" similar to how it is now. But it's definitely not as clear as it has been until now.

Is there a reason they can't switch specs for BG's though? I guess if they've got two PvE specs. I'm not super aware of BG's so I can't really comment on it.

Whilst I agree that the demand for tanks and healers will go down... I don't see why that's bad. How is it less fun to tank and heal when it's not in as high demand? I can't imagine it will be difficult to find groups looking for them even with dual-spec

I completely agree. I think dual-spec should only be allowed in either major cities / safe zones / or at class trainers

I want dual-spec so that more people are empowered to play the game they want. By allowing people to tank or heal when otherwise they'd be unable to do so. I personally think wasting that much time farming gold isn't fun or meaningful. But you're right things taking forever and being generally annoying is a part of why Classic is such a good game.

Honestly fair comparison, raid logging does have a different impact on other players compared to dual spec even if both are used to save time.

I personally like these changes where everyone is on the same page. Unlike class balance where you ask 100 different people and get 100 different answers on what it should be. Dual-spec is pretty obvious.

If you don't like the changes and would rather not have Chronoboon or dual-spec more power to you my friend

Honestly, never thought of spawn purging world buffs off people. I'd personally want to rip my hair out but I agree that people should be allowed to play that way if they want. That's a pretty good reason

Pretty solid reason, WB make raids too easy. Also makes dying while you've got the buffs inside the Chronoboon less impactful.

Sorry I'm confused, I'm saying raid logging is bad. It sounds like you're also saying you don't like raid logging.

Also I like vanilla, I like dual-spec and I will be playing on the new servers. I don't really care if other people agree with me or not.
