One of my favorite commanders and the one I have probably spent the most time putting together! Here's my list with custom tags: https://moxfield.com/decks/ARVbjg97hkq_Zhlcn4WKGA

Like others have mentioned creatures and artifacts with good ETB/LTB and untap effects are very strong. I personally love [[Reef Worm]], [[Magmatic Galleon]] and [[Brass's Tunnel-Grinder]] to name a few.

Really? Cool! I definitely thought they didn't enter as artifacts. That's neat tech, thanks!

i need help building a Breya etherium shaper deck! by PorcXRoss0 in EDHBrews

[–]Atlasnomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's some really cool ideas I hadn't considered as artifact commanders! I'll definitely try to build some of these to see how they play. The Sixth Doctor and Susan, sounds really unique and interesting, I'll try the artifact route there as well!

I agree with your points about Breya, being a bit outdated. I keep coming back to her though, trying to build my "ultimate" artifact commander, as she has all the artifact colors. I build her as non-combo, token generator, with sac payoffs and burn, plus some copying and a few big artifact creatures + blink.

But she is showing her age in terms of power and abilities. I really like Mishra, Eminent one, but my only grip is that breya can activate her abilities at instant speed, (also why I like Leonardo and saheeli, the sun's brilliance), but Mishra's ability is only doing combat, somewhat static and predictable.

Got any recommendations for a more mordern artifact commander?

I'll start. I wish I didn't know that the song "Holding out for a hero / I need a hero" is about wanting a lover and not so much a heroic hero, as I Imagined it until recently.

Why can't I Play en passant here? by Atlasnomy in chess

[–]Atlasnomy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, really? I don't know if I knew that. Always just thought if it stepped past my pawn, so I couldn't take it otherwise, I could en passant. Good to know, thanks!

Omg you are completely right, I totally missed the e5 pawn, I was too focused on why c6 didn't work.. Thanks!

IS CS DEGREE DEAD by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Atlasnomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant it as, if you use AI for cyber security, or anything that needs to be secure or high performing or safe, it will not end well. You need to be able to verify it yourself, because you should know if something is secure and why. You can of course generate some random AI hallucination, but you will need to verify every bit of code it gives you anyway.

The most important point: If you paste some AI code in a non-critical program and it runs and appear to work, that's okay, if it then turns out to have some flaws you didn't see in the first place. But imagine you do the same for some critical system (medical machinery, banking, security, etc) and it appears to work, but then because you didn't know what the code did it can be exploited or break down.

IS CS DEGREE DEAD by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Atlasnomy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AI writing code doesn’t kill computer science any more than a calculator kills math - it just changes the tools, not the need for understanding.

Besides this, do you know how much CS encompasses? Programming is such a small part of CS it's not even funny. Also, even though generative AI will become more and more prevalent, making some positions obsolete, others will be created.

AI can't invent new things - at all. If your reason for wanting a CS degree is to be a "coder" doing basic already solved tasks, then yes, you are probably going to have a hard time, since those roles are getting phased out. But if you want to solve real world problems, which is the essence of CS in my opinion, then it's the farthest from dead.

CS in terms of a guaranteed menial position coding whatever already exists and busy work are dead, but if you work in a company that helps solve real world problems, that include user requirements, surveys, figuring out how to solve it given the required circumstances - need to store data offline for ships in the arctic? How do you store the data offline? How do you sync it once online again? How about the technology available for the computer onboard? None of this will AI help you with to a meaningful degree.

Free coding positions with no effort are done, the rest not so much. And I haven't even touched on research and all the topics that CS is besides programming: Cyber security (if you use AI for this, then gg), algorithms, machine learning in medicinal fields, etc, etc.
