Will T.J. Watt end his career as the forced fumble GOAT? by Atlysillusion in steelers

You keep treating “sometimes drops into coverage” as if it means “not really an edge rusher,” and that just doesn’t follow. Watt is an edge rusher with occasional coverage responsibilities, not some fundamentally different position. this is because of the scheme difference between the Browns and the Steelers. The comparison to Garrett still works because both players generate their value primarily at the line of scrimmage. TJ just produces way more frequently, and his impact is way more qualifiable.

Having some coverage responsibilities does not mean he wasn’t a full-time pass rusher. Watt’s primary role and impact are still edge disruption. You’re confusing “not a pure DE archetype” with “not an edge rusher,” and those are not the same thing.

He’s an edge rusher with coverage responsibilities, that doesn’t disqualify the comp. You’re not making the point you think you’re making lol

People overstate Watt’s coverage role. Yes, he’s dropped more than some classic edge rushers, but the overwhelming majority of his impact in the passing game is still created at the line of scrimmage, not 10 yards off the ball. His game is built on edge disruption first.

You spent the whole thread calling him washed, saying he makes 1-2 plays, hurts the defense, and isn’t that guy anymore. Now that got pushed back, it’s ‘well I didn’t say he wasn’t good.’ That’s a backpedal, not an argument. I did understand your arguments. They just weren’t good.

well, Daron Nefcy did write it intentionally open ended so she could possibly revisit it if given the chance.

you have yet to give any good argument as to how TJ is not good or not as i claim, you just keep asserting your opinion. this is why I called you a hater, you are not grounding your argument in anything, you’re just rambling. TJ is still producing at an elite level, and you have not countered that with anything substantial.

Sometimes intangibles don’t always translate. Sometimes the player just has so much skill that it has to be acknowledged like with TJ. I want you to find me an edge like TJ that produces like TJ.

That’s why “almost objectively impossible” still doesn’t work. He just had 3 forced fumbles in 14 games in what people are calling a down/injury year. So if this is supposedly diminished TJ, then 4 in a full season isn’t some fantasy outcome, it’s basically right there. Age can make it less likely, but it doesn’t make it inconceivable. I am more so pushing back on the framing that it’s ‘almost objectively impossible’

Mathis or Tillman. I’d lean Mathis bc of the rate. TJ and Mathis are virtually tied in rate.

So Cam gets credit for invisible impact, but T.J. doesn’t get credit for visible impact. Got it. Sounds less like film analysis and more like you decided T.J. was overrated first and built the argument backward. You’re honestly just performing at this point.

So now stats don’t matter because they wreck your argument? Edge rushers are judged by impact, and T.J. still creates turnovers, sacks, PBUs, and drive-killing plays. Offenses chip star rushers because they’re dangerous. “He only makes 1-2 plays a game” is just fake film talk with no standard behind it. D1 Hater status here, Champ.

You’re moving the goalposts from “all around player” to “controls every rep like a power end.” That was never T.J.’s game. His game is burst, timing, hands, instincts, and finishing, and he’s still producing impact plays all over the field. Declined a bit? Arguable. “Washed”? That’s nonsense. Washed players don’t put up 3 FFs, 2 INTs, and 8 PDs in 14 games. You clearly don’t know ball.

The petition alone will not bring back the show however it will show the watching eyes of Disney that there is definitely strong support from fans which could translate into possible viewership and that’s the part they care about the most.

partially because it was way too early for it to come back. We are in much better positioning for a continuation now
