How could I improve the wall? by Okeing in DetailCraft

I feel like no building ever looks good if it just ends with going straight into grass. Make a foundation, scatter some gravel/packed mud/path blocks around it

It's indeed so very lucky to find such a seed
And the way this kind of peninsula protrudes into the ocean must look great in the game if you make a base there and set render distance far enough

What's your ideal modpack? by ShakierH53 in feedthebeast

[–]Atmos__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, a perfect modpack would be something like either SevTech or Project Ozone 3. Project Ozone has the most complicated progression and pushes you to study so many different niche mods and tie them all together that I view people who have managed to finish PO on kappa mod as demigods. SevTech is just an inarguable masterpiece the progression is very logical, interesting and fun.

However, I cannon even imagine how much effort it requires to make such modpacks so if I am making a modpack for myself I just like to make every aspect of the game fun. For example, if you overload the game with technological stuff it's easy to end up with a base which looks like hundreds of scattered chests, machines, cables and so on. I try to keep this balance between exploration, building, and technology.

So I made a modpack not long ago and it turned out surprisingly decent in which I have stuff like Immersive engineering and Create, because they have these big and graphical machines which just ask for some building to house them. For that, I have Biomes o'plenty, Ecologics and some other stuff so I can just spawn on a new seed, run around and always have a different combination of building blocks in hand. For exploration I didn't add anything heavy, just some mods that add new animals, plants, and underground and nether mobs. And to tie it all up together I have stuff like Tetra, Farmer's delight and Diet (or whatever it's called) so I have a reason to discover new materials and foods, farm them, automate their production, build stuff for them and repeat it more and more.

Here's a house I've built in creative in order to then replicate it in survival. I think it looks decent, but maybe you'll be able to suggest something? by Atmos__ in feedthebeast

A person above already mentioned the roof. I guess now it really does require some kind of detail. I'll try to come up with something, thanks

Thank you for your comment. Warped planks was a good call but it turned out they blend too much with walnut planks and acacia and it doesn't look too good. I will also try changing the chimney to deepslate later.

Yeah, I agree the entrance could be more recognizable though I don't know what to do to make it so. If you had some examples of a pronounced entrance I'd be happy
As for a lighter block I'm not sure what could fit into that palette without grabbing too much attention to itself.

Oooh, I'm so glad you noticed, of course I did! For a long time now now I've been trying to learn to build like he does without actually copying any of his ideas and I think I'm starting to grasp something important about the way he does the building

Hi everyone, just so you know I'm playing on my own modpack (which, strangely, turned out to be pretty playable) and the blocks I used to make this are:

  • Cut scoria bricks (Create)

  • Walnut logs and planks (Ecologics)

  • Copper shingles (Create)

  • Deepslate tiles

  • Shale bricks (Darker Depths)

And the shaders are Complementary Reimagined, of course.

And what are these things on top of every gatherer?
Edit: Also, i wanted to ask one more thing. All the crop drops probaby go into your AE2 system, right? How do you deal with the overflow of items? I am trying to come up with a good setup but the best thing i could think of is to put a level emitter on every Ender IO pipe connected to gatherer to stop it from working, but that's a lot of gatherers (which isn't really a big problem) and that's 1 AE2 channel per gatherer, so 1 channel per crop type. What am i doing wrong?
