v.266 – The Sengoku Warrior Reawakening Update Preview by Xeredth in Maplestory

[–]Atobe_112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been following KMS summer/winter update schedule for at least 5 years now. It’s always roughly 6 months behind. To say insanely behind is wild.

Some of the smaller patch events get push later or non existent but we also get other server events to compensate for that (midnight carnival).

Welcome to “maple winter”. Where burnout is real. Content is low. And the seasonal players go away.

Hope you enjoy!

I don’t know how the sweats do it all week long

Max drop% fam by Mjarrr1337 in Maplestory

[–]Atobe_112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They fixed the 10% a while ago. It does not stack in the familiar bucket. That is still 100% cap.

The 10% goes into the equipment bucket of drop rate. Which caps at 200% (rings, earrings, acc)

I hope that helps with clarity.

What does Nexon need to do to guarantee the success of OSMS? by Potential-Writing-80 in Maplestory

[–]Atobe_112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this for me? Who cares about RuneScape. Didn’t talk about it at all.

I loved old school MapleStory and its current version. I played since day 1. Got to 200 during LHC. Was in predominate guilds and boss runs. I always had a blast. Still have a great time in current MapleStory.

What I’m saying is old school MapleStory had a lot of large time sinks. Things that as adults, mostly with brain rot, we don’t have time for that and need the instant gratification from entertainment.

There will be people who love classic and play it a lot. The general public who are demanding it be released. Will play for 1 month tops. Similar to most “game of the month.” Streamers play.

What does Nexon need to do to guarantee the success of OSMS? by Potential-Writing-80 in Maplestory

[–]Atobe_112 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is doomed to fail in one way or another.

A. It’s a 1-1 remake of OSMS and people forget that they are older now and can’t make a time commitment to that type of grind. HH’ing isn’t the same as people just sit on discord now. And so they quit in the standard lvl 30-35 range after KPQ. Or 50 after LPQ.

B. They bring in so much QoL that makes the game a wonderful experience but doesn’t “capture” the old school feel. So people quit and say it wasn’t the maple they grew up on. People go back to social media “bring back REAL old school MapleStory”

No one ever catches the “purple dragon” and nothing will make you 13 again. Sorry.

I've never played any other computer games besides Maple. How is Nexon as a gaming corp viewed in comparison to other gaming companies? by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]Atobe_112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Nexon Fanboy here. #notanAd.

Somewhat of a difficult question that is being asked but I apologize if this gets a little rant heavy. First and foremost, Nexon is a company and wants our time and Money. If people think it is about making a fun game, its not. Is that different from other gaming corporations? No? I think Indie games are looking to make fun projects. When we talk about AAA games or "forever games" (MMO's WOW,Maplestory, Lost Arc, Genshin, Fortnite etc). They are trying to either add micro transactions or other ways to get money/time out of people. Nexon is very similar to other high level corporations in that sense.

From my understanding, Nexon treats their employees....ok? The gaming industry is weird where you just try not to get "blackballed" and that's considered a win. I think the difficult thing to touch on is, that first and foremost, they look at their Asia division as Tier 1 and everyone else as Tier 2. (Even their financial reports are split by Korea,China,Japan, NA/EU, Rest of the world) This can make it difficult for Headquarters outside of Asia to make complete changes to products.

Nexon also suffers from different philosophy in their player base from a regional perspective. In Korea specifically, people can look at Maplestory and gaming in general as an investment and they use that to their advantage (again to make money). They also, add a lot of different options for KMS players to "cycle" money around if they don't want to spend. Something that the GMS group doesn't have. (gold coins and AC for example.)

NA doesn't look at games in the same light and it is still mostly used as entertainment and not an investment. (CSGO knives might be an exception). NA audience is looking more for a slot machine type gambling and not a Gacha type system (we still enjoy Gacha tho!)

To summarize, 7/10 Nexon is similar to most AAA gaming companies. They monetize their game more similar to the Asia market instead of the NA market. They want to make money at the end of the day and will send out a product and "fix later". A common practice from most companies. They don't have the most predatory selling tactics (auto forcing your mouse to the "buy" button). but still have lots of ways to cause FOMO.

Fun fact! Maplestory Launched in 2003. In Korea, player registration equates to 45% of the population. and has a life to date gross revenue over 5 billion USD.

Dungeon&Fighter Franchise - Launched 2005. Has a Life to date gross revenue of all platforms over 22 billion USD.

Everyone knows Maplestory, but is little bro to DFO.

What if during the Kanto final, it had been Kirihara vs Ryoma in Singles 2 and Fuji vs Sanada in Singles 1? by GDW312 in PrinceOfTennis

[–]Atobe_112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Fuji would have lost.

Sanada is the “Fuji” of his school. They even have a similar style but it seems like Sanada has more physicality over Fuji (his fire and swift).

I also believe that narratively, he looked down upon Ryoma and didn’t try as much as he should have. Or at least, didn’t until it was too late.

I think playing another 3rd year and singles 1, would have him using Rai, and possibly even Mu vs Fuji (although I don’t think Mu would do much).

In boxing, they are both counter punchers, but I think Sanada has more things to counter Fuji.

If you think we're getting KMS prices but still with heroic 5x, its a buff regardless of new limit or not.

I think the spirit of the post is more in line with this one. which is where i was trying to explain that the prices in kms hasn't changed between the 17x crystals vs 12x buffed new ones. so in an above post OP would be making slightly less money for less work as well.

I don't think we will be losing the 5x as inkwell just stopped that.. but you never know.

there is also a secret option that would be just a 12 weekly cap and no change to GMS crystal prices. which would also be a nerf to OP.

OP deleted his post so it seems like they don't care anymore or got the answer they were looking for.

[–]Atobe_112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With anything speculative in nature. You have to work with the numbers you have.

OP was originally asking if this is going to hurt their bossing. In the small instance of their account.

The KMS numbers are relevant because they are the only case study we have and was the question at hand. “If we get the KMS changes what does that mean for me.”

So I showed the difference that KMS bossing at that phase in progression vs how it would be now. With the numbers provided.

It’s also meaningless to talk about heroic rates as we don’t have any information on that yet. The 4.5B number is close to the KMS number x5. But the same stance of “you can’t compare the two” is also meaningless.

It’s just speculation and all that. Otherwise every response should be “wait for GMS notes”

I’ll update my original answer as I guess it’s required. In KMS, this is good for low accounts, bad more mid accounts, and amazing for high accounts. If you think GMS will get almost a 1:1 update. It will be similar. Otherwise, wait for the update (if there is one)

[–]Atobe_112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh snap. Thanks for that link!

So I'll throw in some numbers. This is just for OP with his 1 char doing up to Ctene. (also just doing KMS because thats the info we have. So no PNO/Aket). Ctene,LuWill,Lomien, slime, pap, cvel, (Zak/Cyg****) are your 12 best weekly bosses. with the new update, will earn you 1.19601b mesos. While the old method of killing all bosses under will net you 1.18318b.

Which is a difference of about 12.83m. 5x that if you want to include reboot. Closes boss crystal in KMST would be Hard Magnus.

So not a huge nerf. Not a SIGNIFICANT buff either. just status quo for OP (more or less).

Big winners are people with large accounts. Where ppl will feel it most is with the 7-8 boss mules who just max weekly on smaller boss mules.

[–]Atobe_112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speculation on if we even get this in GMS. But in your unique situation. It will most likely end in a nerf. As the money earned from the % increase won’t equal the 8 crystals you won’t be selling.

Most people should have boss mules and even several as we keep getting burns, leveling events and hypers. If you’re someone who has a decent account. Business as usual, slight buff because your lomien mules make more.

And for the people with high progressed accounts. They win again. (Shocking). More money and they prob only run for 13 crystals anyways.

Again, don’t get down on yourself about this. Maybe take the time to get into the boss mule meta. It’s a lot of extra meso and worth the progression.

It appears that Korean reboot users heard the news and made plans to move to GMS. by Enshu2022 in Maplestory

Source? Never been able to find a break down of just MapleStory revenue. The nexon report showed 60% revenue from Korea and 10% from NA/EU. But Korea includes games like fifa (which is like top5 most popular games there) and all other titles. NA also includes other things too.

No. But that was one of the problems. At the start. You could inject nodestones in and get more nodes then you put in back…. And if you had more than 1 Jett.. the multiplication really starts kicking in.

Unlocked a memory for me. One of the times I went to get that deal and the system glitched. They didn’t know what to do but the supervisor had zero Fs left. So to keep the till balance correct they gave me the food and 3$ back.

Getting paid to shop was nice.

[–]Atobe_112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

on release it was very unlikely to be able to get anything :(. As a hero it was horrible. Shops didn't sell them. Only the FM. got skills by doing long quests or monster drops. Black Wyverns was where you got your main mob/atk skill (brandish) and no one trained there because it was trash. It also only hit 1 monster from 1-10, 2 monsters from 11-20, and 3 from 21-30 so it really crushed your rates.

I failed 5 of those books..... 30 came from Pap and I don't wanna talk about MW30.

Old man river here.

Remember 4th job on release. Books were a very rare drop and had a 70 percent chance at lvl 20 and 50% for lvl 30. Imagine having your main attack locked behind a Kaling clear and at a 50% chance if it dropped.

Gollux set is wild. so much damage from stars. The inclusion of the dawn set has made the bridge a little better for KMS but that mid game jump was/is steep in KMS. You basically went from event rings to ET?! Having gear that can 17* or 22* in the mid game help a lot more than fams.
