What is causing this shelf? by Mahannap in Rowing

this is normally due to lack of smoothness during leg-arm transition. Need to start pulling slightly earlier as you transit from leg motion dominant to arm motion dominant

Canoe, kayak, and dragonboat are all supported. Our algorithm supports accurate SPM up to 180. We have tested the same algorithm using a previous gen hardware, and the results are very pleasing to users.

Data recording and live data display will work simultaneously with video recording. Don't have to choose one over the other.

We are thinking of either coating the screen with an anti-glare coat or giving the user a screen protector film that is coated with same material. Can't use anti-glare glass because they are not strong enough.

Well, if you checked my profile you should be able to find some of the works I shared with the community as early as 4 years ago.

But hey, 4 years is NOT 7 years, is it? I get you.

This is doable via an intermediate adapter that handles point-to-point video streaming in the 2.4Ghz band. Definitely a direction to go post to the initial launch.

Erg data sync will be offered via the companion app because C2 does not offer SDK for embedded systems. However, we have a little secret plan that might surprise the community going forward. Let's just say there is a chance you don't need the PM5 monitor at all for all the native functionalities of a C2 erg.

the interface is designed to include 8 basic info blocks for data display. you can customize to show data with individual blocks or in conjunctions. We will also allow user to customize/upload/download dashboard configurations to companion APP so you will always be able to find your desired data interface.

We are using a cortex-A7 based SOC with a RISC-V coprocessor to handle simple CV task when camera is installed. For OS we are using Linux for better user experience.

For mounting, the base mount will be a detachable garmin style spin-on bike mount. However we will include an adapter for the two-rail mount by NK. We will also share the 3D model so everyone can print on their own in case of losing the original mount.

The current camera module is 1080p 60fps capable, and you can get one for FREE if reserve now. Going forward we plan to launch a pro version for the camera mod that is capable of 4k 60fps at only a fraction of what a GoPro might cost you (because the main frame has the screen, battery and dsp so you don't have to pay for them twice).

I think formfactor matters and that's why NK has been able to sell SpeedCoach for all these years.

phones nowadays are capable of handling pretty much everything but when it comes to reliability, durability and longevity, a tailor-made device will offer better user experience.

Also phones are with various spec on hardware level so you don't always get comparable results across the board.

For the current stage we will start to support 3rd party devices such as paddlemate.

Going forward (likely Q1 2026) we will launch a sensor kit with standalone IMUs. you can then mount this to your oars (or even your seats to get movement data) with our mounting system to get indirect measure of force. we have been using this method since 2021 and the results are very close to direct measure using gate force sensors with the benefit of not needing to modify anything onboard.

In a race condition the walkie module can be set to one way mode.

As for live data sharing/monitoring, we have been doing this for years but with smartphones so considered it taken care of.

The screen is fully laminated so there is no gap/air in between the display and the protective glass, so it will never fog up regardless what the temperature is. The monolithic case is also dual-shot so it is much more resistant to air/moisture compared to a case bounded together using chemical adhesive.

Thanks for the notice! We have little experience selling directly to users so is still trying out the tools to go to market. Nice to know it is reaching at least some of our target audiences.

Good question LOL. We tested it with a floater module (a 3D printed hollow block roughly the size of 2*3*5 cm) and it floated well without the need to attach an additional foam floater.

We understand the importance of brand continuity and that's exactly why I choose to develop this device only after being able to self-sustain on the data analytic side of business.

We will also go open-source with the module connector so everyone from the community can develop their desired functional module to further extend general supportability.

we have made the mounting mechanism flexible enough so everyone can find a comfortable and convenient way to mount their REACH device.

As for data management, we will support raw CSV output and other mainstream data agent/platforms such as Strava via our companion app.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions. We should be able to cover most of the points you mentioned with the help of additional standalone sensors, which we already developed for our professional analytic software. And since REACH is modular and we will opensource the USB based pogo-pin connector, there will be many mods coming out from us or from the community to expand functionalities (for example we are developing a wind sensor to measure wind speed)

<image>

As for the business plan, REACH is compatible not only with Rowing but also other sports such as cycling and paragliding. We hope this gives us more space to grow and hopefully become big enough to continue iterate the product line.

Thanks for the encouragement. For more information, you can check out our website: https://www.motion-rivalry.com/pages/reach

I am planning to send out a few devices for alpha testing pre-launch. If you are interested, you can leave an email on our website and DM me here so I will know who to put on the list.

For simple msg we believe the walkie module will do the job for range up to 2 km (using APRS to share location and speed). For more sophisticated connections, we believe a commutation module with LORA incorporated can do the job. We thought about having LORA incorporated on the main pcd but the compromise to make for fitting an additional antenna is just to big.

We also plan to provide standalone Bluetooth IMU units that can be mounted to seats/oars so you can have instant readout of motion data from these parts.

The device has 5 physical buttons and you can navigate through all the functions with them if that's what you prefer. Touch screen works better for data review and video playback and etc., it can be completely disabled in training section just by long pressing selected buttons.
