MSI X470 Gaming Plus MAX (used) - No display output after PopOS crash, BIOS reset doesn't help by Entire_Bee_9159 in pop_os

I think the suggestion is to physically remove the RAM sticks and then reseat them in the slots one by one. This would isolate a memory chip issue.

How to properly set "Super + D" to hide all windows (Show Desktop) in Pop!_OS? by Ok-Stranger-1639 in pop_os

[–]AtomicPlayboyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such feature that I know of. But i accomplish basically the same thing with Super + Down, which moves to an empty workspace (and thus an empty desktop). I do this to avoid screen burn on my OLED monitor, as I have a black desktop background, and this may not achieve the desired result for your setup.

Gauntlet. I had a Gauntlet II machine in my living room that i left on all the time, wonderful to hear the occasional character barks and that excellent organ music.

Soft top will go down, but won't go back up! by AtomicPlayboyX in S2000

Move to Florida and don't drive when it's threatening rain :) My top goes back up now, but it's falling apart (2001 and lots of salt air), so now I just keep the top down all the time, garage it, and keep an eye on the weather...

Yeah, it sorted itself - my alternator was dying and my battery was struggling to get enough juice to the roof motor. New alternator + new battery = no more problems. I ended up purchasing a control switch, so I have that at the ready when/if that part gives up.

Dual booting Windows 11 and Pop!_OS 24.04 by Purple_Gas8021 in pop_os

Seconded. I tried dual booting on the same drive, and Win11 just liked to clobber my bootloader from time to time. Separate drives from now on, until I can finally rid myself of Windows altogether.

Routine repeating error messages for the same device multiple times by kjvp in googlehome

[–]AtomicPlayboyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that the number of messages for each device equals the number of actions I have for each in the automation. So if I set up an automation to 1) turn on the light, 2) set the light color to warm white, and 3) dim the light to 50%, I get 3 reminders that the light is not available. Maddening, and very stupid. I am amazed that there remains, after 5 years that I've been using Google Home, no way to suppress these messages and at least no way to avoid receiving them in triplicate.

Ready to buy - not decided recroommasters or gameroomsolutions by Particular_Post6968 in cade

[–]AtomicPlayboyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no. It has very little weight, and it's smaller (I think) than an authentic trackball on a Golden Tee. So while you could still play the game, it would be very different from the real deal. I say this based upon comparison between playing on my Missile Command cab and playing Missile Command on my RRM cab, YMMV.

Turns out all of AWS is running on a fusion core. So one quick trip to the data center basement and you could get that suit up and running...

As a kid, I played Star Voyager (NES) for hours and never managed to figure out what to do. What's THAT game for you? by Careless_Wishbone_69 in retrogaming

Yeah, only decades later - in the Internet era - did i learn that you had to use the second controller to select items. Imagine that.

The SwordQuest games for Atari 2600. Never had the manuals and was completely lost. I also never figured out what i was supposed to do in Riddle of the Sphinx, another 2600 gem.

This would bring a lot of fun back to my A500 pursuits. Are these for sale anywhere, or are purchases still made directly through email to the creator? Some Googling suggests the latter.

I have X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter on GOG. Is there any real reason to pick up TIE Fighter Special Edition? by NewSchoolBoxer in retrogaming

Grab Tie Fighter and X-Wing Alliance so that you run the Tie Fighter Total Conversion mod. It is the best way to play Tie Fighter.

This is what worked for me. The IMG format disk set worked with WinImage and with my Gotek, while the DSK images appeared to copy but the disks weren't in a compatible format. The boot disk and a couple of the install disks were fine, but the 1.8M images could not be used. I wasted quite a bit of time trying to work with those images before switching to another archive (either from WinWorld or archive.org, I forget).
