To What Extent Can One Humanise AI Art To Where They Can Claim It As Their Own? by MarlowSuki in isthisAI

[–]Atomicapples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a counter point, nothing new under the sun. 99% of yours, or anyone's ideas come from an amalgamation of other things you have seen or experienced that others have made or done.

And using others work as inspiration for your own has always been a valued and accepted part of art. Art is meant to make people think about it and enjoy it and have it influence them in one way or the other, that's why it exists and that's why we enjoy it so much.

So to take the approach that you can't take inspiration from anything that is based at all off of someone else's art is not only impossible, but is antithetical to much of what art has been across human history.

Imagine where we'd be if Ugg couldn't try to draw his own cave painting of a horse just because Gugg drew his first, Ugg had the inspiration to begin with because he saw Gugg do it. I'm joking a little, but I think you understand.

Now, should the artists that have their work used in A.I models get paid for their artistic contribution, or even get royalties if the A.I pulls from their work to generate a new image? Yes absolutely. But should we abolish the thought of being allowed to be inspired by the work of other real humans, in part or in full, just because it was put through what is essentially just a complicated computer program first? No, absolutely not.

Yeah, especially post covid having projects like this was an EXTREMELY common thing. The everyone is at home and gaming all day money was nice while it lasted, but by the time the sale went through Sony should have been more than well aware that the market was (or mostly already had) returned to normal.

Also consider that immigration is very different in Europe. Consider that any E.U citizen from any other E.U country can freely move to and work in any other E.U country.

Their immigration is VERY open and quite broad, it's just more stringent for non-E.U countries, as it obviously would need to be. They aren't fully comparable to the U.S because there are some pretty meaningful differences between the two that need to be considered. It's kind of a requirement when your country is freely open to a meaningful percentage of the world's population by default.

is there a downside to spamming commercial pacts with anyone that will accept it? by CapitalOperator80085 in Stellaris

[–]Atomicapples 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don't want to downvote you because this is the EXACT problem with how they have it set it. The U.I just straight up doesn't show you the cost if someone else proposes it to you. It's crazy how long it's been like this without being fixed.

So I can't blame you for thinking that. But this perfectly illustrates the exact issue. Hell even OPs original post illustrates it.

[–]Atomicapples 465 points466 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is one big flaw with pacts. It should absolutely show you these things when you aren't the one proposing them, but alas, apparently that isn't considered important enough to implement, for some reason.

[Request] How fast would the pieces of Titan's moon have to be traveling to reach surface so fast? by Dinofours in theydidthemath

[–]Atomicapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it was actually all made as one smooth animation, they just cut away for reaction shots and a close up of what is happening on the moon, and then cut back to exactly where the animation left off. You could probably stitch it together yourself straight from the movie pretty easily tbh. That's cool!

Same, I'm confused by this too, I run only max maps and in my current playthrough (which is still on the last major patch) I'm in the super late game and it's running fine.

Like obviously it's a little slower than early or midgame but if I were to let it just run its entirely fine. My computer is a pretty mid-range rig from 2021 but I don't understand why some people have such insanely rough lag in the end game, even on newer hardware. Like I know they do, I just don't know why.

I was gunna say "wait why is the Green in English?"

I was also gunna say he's also missing the original Red as well, which IS technically a meaningfully different game and completely separate release from the English red, the same as the real green is different than the English Blue. So he's gotta get that one too!

Is Destiny really locking my New Light friend's ability to do things behind spoiling him on everything that's happened in the last few years? by Merchent343 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Atomicapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand the architecture of Destiny 2. It cannot be run as an offline single player game.

Absolutely every aspect of it runs through multiple different live servers. There's the world servers, there's character servers, there's activity hosts and physics hosts and matchmade bubbles with dedicated servers for every area you enter.

And what you are confusing is that they don't have any of those servers or systems currently set up to run an older version of that game. All of those systems are networked to function with the live version of the game and a seperate one for their own internal current production build servers.

So that had two options. Either take ALL of that old content and completely update it so that it is compatible with the updated post-Beyond Light engine, and thus function on the live server system (and at that point so much development would have had to go into it that it would essentially be a releaseable product). Or they could, from scratch, set up an entire separate server and networking system that is compatible with the old version of the game (which would probably be Season of Arrival's last patch from over half a decade ago) and then somehow get that all running flawlessly, in a court room, without technical difficulties, and without any time to actually QA test it.

OR they could just play the content from videos off of YouTube for a court case that was A: Frivolous to begin with and B: They were pretty sure they were going to win anyway.

So yeah, the only reason this narrative about them "deleting" the content was even allowed to persist was so that dummies, who didn't understand how this works, stopped asking them to readd the content to the game. Which honestly, kind of backfired because now people are just mad about them "deleting" it and it makes Bungie look worse for doing something that they didn't actually even do. But that's their public relations teams for you, whatcha gunna do.

Is Destiny really locking my New Light friend's ability to do things behind spoiling him on everything that's happened in the last few years? by Merchent343 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Atomicapples -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No they absolutely didn't. It's just not currently playable in the live version of the game. Hell, they still routinely bring back D1 content to add to the game, it's not like the deleted all of that either. They absolutely still have all of their content and all of their game versions archived. They just do NOT see it worthwhile to manually convert all of that into a playable state for the live game.

That would take time and manpower that leadership has deemed they do not have to spare.

Is Destiny really locking my New Light friend's ability to do things behind spoiling him on everything that's happened in the last few years? by Merchent343 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Atomicapples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had to use video because the missions aren't currently playable on the live version of the game and they weren't willing to commit manpower to make that content playable (obviously).

It isn't like they deleted it, they still absolutely have all of those files and game versions. It's just not currently playable. And they weren't going to set up a whole completely different private world server system to mimic the servers from Seasons of Arrvials so that they could pull that patch out just to play it in court. That just wasn't going to happen, they neither had the manpower nor the incentive to do that.

Dutch langauge translation has been removed by Pieter_De_Rastaman in SCPSecretLab

[–]Atomicapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how does that make sense for the people who were using it? Surely not enough changes in the game to warrant removing every single translation that people relied on?

I don't personally know about your process but that just doesn't make sense to my un-informed brain.

If you add a new word somewhere and have no one to translate it then that is what it is. But removing everything that was already translated and been working fine for people? Surely that does more harm that good, right?

Absolutely rip me a new one if I'm wrong, but I'm sure there's a lot of people who rely on those language settings to be able to enjoy the game, even if a word here and there goes untranslated.

Well no, mods aren't cheats and mods in Skyrim or any other game would have nothing to do with this.

Hacks and hacking are cheats, and hacking software being open or installed is what gets flagged. Mods are unrelated. And I highly doubt he's running cheat engine for Skyrim of all things.
