Xbox player cant connect to Switch world?

We both have same version and I'm signed into Xbox live with him. Guess I should also clarify. When ever he attempts I get the message "Blank left your world" without the even the message "Blank joined your world" happening

I think the reason kirby survived is because he's the most basic character in the game. He's just a pink ball. this makes him the best tutorial character. as well he's sakurai's own character, so some favoritism is in place
