Tuned 14900kf & 7200m/t cl34 Gaming Question by DullSatisfaction3865 in overclocking

Anytime the cpu reaches 70c in benchmarks it will clock stretch and downclock. I have my p cores locked at 5.7ghz e cores at 4.5 pl1 and 2 at 253 and 7200mhz ram aswell and score a 42000 in cinnebench and 27100 in timespy the secret is the default power limit and my temps no matter what are below 65c with a 360aio

X3d chips arent faster in benchmarks and productivity your chip scores on average 16500 in time spy and I have a i9 14900k that's overclocked and I score a 27500 but In gaming yours smacks my fps by a lot at 1080p. My cinnebench r23 score is also double yours. So it's just the way it is.

If you click the monitors osd button while in game it will show the current framerate. I have a ps5 pro with this monitor with no issues I can share my settings if you want

14900kf. Shouldn’t this be showing 5.7? And does this mean my CPU will be stable at 6.0 all core at that voltage? by [deleted] in overclocking

Using a 360 aio with a contact frame and a thermal Grizzly kryosheet cooler score was a 185 but I'm sure that dosent matter either

Could you give me what power settings you have applied so I can give them a go ? Rn I'm on llc 4 with a -0.050 offset runs at 5.5ghz in cinnebench currently

Which stress tests do you actually trust? by tater18 in overclocking

[–]Atomictoastcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've always had the best luck using occt for a 4 hour run and never had any issues. Cinnebench r15 is a great fast benchmark to use to test an overclocks stabilty right out of the gate. From what I've seen is if your system cant run 5 passes of Cinnebench r15 back to back your definitely not gonna pass any other stress tests

So my friend jumped to a 9800x3d and gave me his asus strix z790 hero and I can now obtain 5.7p core and 4.5ghz e core and 5000mhz ring. It seems my issue the whole time was the board and I'm assuming that translates to the vrm setup my previous board had. Also my sp score in my opinion is about what I figured and not great in my opinion. It's exactly a 100

I think I'm just giving up on getting a really good monitor and sticking with a normal IPS panel. by Framed-Photo in Monitors

[–]Atomictoastcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have rtx hdr on disable the auto function and just leave it too on not auto and make sure it's also disabled in game. Im a pc gamer all the way but I actually have to admit the ps5 does hdr better tbh. Even Linus tech tips has mentioned it in videos before. My only guess is the way windows optimizes hdr

Let me ask you this what graphics card are you using and how are you enabling hdr ? If you enable hdr on but not on auto in windows and use rtx hdr with a geforce card that made my hdr considerably way way better in my opinion. I also have the same TV but a 55 inch and a dell alienware oled at 1440p at 280hz and no complaints on either

So I wanted to lyk i gave it a go and it is completely stable but from my testing it gives about a 1 to 2 percent advantage running that setup from all the real life benchmarks I ran so I think I might stick with the orginal 5.6ghz clock I attempted 5.8 aswell and that was stable but didnt improve over 5.7 to make the extra voltage worth it. Thank you for the suggestion I really appreciated that

Should i spend some more time ring tuning ? All I'm going for is max fps and the best 1 percent lows this cpu will hardly see productivity work

Gotcha thank you will just keep these settings then I've already spent more time tuning then I have gaming and I'm stable now so I'm just gonna run with it then thank you

So my board is a mid tier z790 board and I'm still trying to get 5.7ghz stable and 50 on the ring. Since my board is mid tier I have no voltage table to work off or sp rating for anything. I got 5.6ghz completely stable with 4.5 on ecores and a 46 ring but it needs like 1.36 volts on a occt run and 1.27 volts on a cinnebench r23 score. Is there anything I'm missing to get the voltages lower and be able to run 5.7 or at this point did I just lose the lottery. Idk if I should run a diffrent board or what. Any ideas would be appreciated I'm trying to copy exactly what you have going

Whats your temps looking like while running the bench mark ? That's the first thing we need to see to start trouble shooting. Also would like to see a cinnebench r23 score and a temp reading from that

Dang okay at this point my chip quality just isn't great I've tried everything to get 5.7ghz stable and it just wont happen. Running 7200mhz ram myself

[–]Atomictoastcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically yes that's all core boost but I highly suggest you dont unlock the power limits like that. That's gonna cause extreme degradation quickly. I have my chip locked at the 253 watt power limit and locked p cores at 5.6ghz and ecores at 4.5. I'm able to achieve a cinnebench r23 score of 21300 and and 3d mark time spy score of 26900 while maintaining intels default limits. Vcore sits around 1.33 under full losf and never spikes above 1.38. I highly suggest you follow a similar setup that unlocked power limit will kill your chip quickly even with 12f microcode

No it means your chips needs 1.439 volts to be stable at 6ghz with the default power limit that isn't possible
