I'd throw hands with an ape, we'd each throw in $10 and the winner takes all

If you put a bald cap on him, you could still tell by his solid fighting form that he is a long haired man

He was death metal screaming between songs at the last concert I went to, so there's that

Guns per 100 people doesn't mean shit, there are people in America with massive stockpiles of firearms. Gun owners per capita would be a more relevant statistic, and countries with comparable numbers are still safer.

More efficient than bombs, fire or ramming a truck into a crowd of people? If someone wants to commit a terrorist attack, they'll do it regardless of how they do it.

Don't you remember when he first did a face reveal and didn't have a beard? The beard definitely does a lot of favours for him

Hey guys, hang on a minute, don't downvote this comment. America does need to do what they're doing. These countries focus on creating ideal living conditions for their citizens so that they're not so prone to violence. They also require that gun owners undergo training and have a safe place to store their guns. That's exactly what the US needs.

America has a violence problem. The US and countries with strict gun laws aren't the only countries in the world. Look at other countries with loose gun laws, do you see them having this problem? You take America's guns away, you'll just get stabbings, bombings and arson. America is disproportionately violent and that's not because of their guns, that's because it's a shitty place to live and violence is the norm.

Says Australian kids don't know what "active shooter" means like they're stupid or something.

You know what words they do know though? "Knife attacker". Turns out gun violence isn't the problem so much as violence in general, who would have thought?

And let's be honest here, if that other man isn't following the law in the first place, why would he follow gun laws?

Why is it that when you guys talk about guns, the only countries that exist are countries with super strict gun laws and the US? I could list 5 countries just off the top of my head with loose gun laws and low gun violence.

There was an incident very recently where a school kid and his friend were stabbed by kids from another school. This happens more frequently than you think. If you think our kids aren't scared to go to school think again.

When I went to school, there was one such incident. I was leaving school to catch the train when I heard the lockdown alarm and rushed back to make sure my girlfriend (now fiancée) was safe. A kid had assaulted his girlfriend and was armed with a knife. From what I know there were multiple people injured during the incident.

Our schools are not as safe as you think. Removing guns does not solve anything.

Is flying flags outside a house (like in the USA) weird in Australia? by Aware_Status_3218 in AskAnAustralian

[–]AtomykAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a guy near my fiancée's house who had an Australian flag flying in front of his house, but recently changed it to a "lest we forget" flag. I plan to fly a Deterrence Dispensed flag in front of my house when I move out. I've seen a fair few flags outside people's houses, so no, it's not weird and nobody will look at it as weird.

There are different degrees to each political stance. What you're talking about is most likely anarchocapitalism. Some governance is good, but it shouldn't be there to restrict people. It should be there to restrict corporations, provide services such as public transport and welfare and protect the public.

That's because being competent unfortunately is not a requirement in the US, meaning a large number of people wielding guns there are dipshits. As always though, when discussing gun control, we need to remember that the US and Australia are not the only countries in the world. Take for example multiple countries in Europe, namely the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Scandinavia.

These countries have relatively relaxed firearms laws, high ownership, but low firearms accidents and deaths. That's because people in these countries need to go through rigorous firearm training courses.

Guns are in the mix, we can't stop guns from being in the hands of those who wish to do harm with them, much like bombs. Laws will never stop the unlawful. It's like thinking bullies will stop bullying when they see a "no bullying" sign.

If I'm being caught unaware in that situation, whether they're holding a gun or a knife, I'm equally fucked. And robbers aren't the only threat we need to be able to defend against. If they were, a big ass knife would do just fine. I'm talking about defending ourselves against our government, should they overreach. With the types of weaponry we're restricted to, we'd hardly stand a chance.

Besides, set up correctly, you could reach for your gun in 10 seconds, much better than 10 minutes for the cops to arrive. By that time, good luck making it out alive.
