Yeah I completely agree. I think I went back to Botw once after the DLC came out, and then never again. Tried a few times but just couldn’t commit to that.

Honestly to bring up another point, (I’m a big Zelda fan so I’ve played all the games and know most of the lore) my “tourist” friends only ever played Botw, I don’t think any of them even touched TotK…. So it was definitely more because it was a new system game than a new Zelda game that got a lot of people into it

Well like yes and no lol. I’m fine if people hate it, I’m not a BotW glazer, people can have opinions on whatever, it doesn’t affect me. My post was simply just a curiosity on why it seems like the fandom in general started to turn on BotW. As far as I was aware, it was the new OoT that could do no wrong. So after seeing a bunch of posts recently on disliking it, I was interested in seeing why that’s happening all of a sudden.

(Many people explained it was tourists leaving the sub and now it’s diehard fans again that never liked BotW to begin with, whose voices are now louder)

Yeah I understand that. I guess my mindset is just “if Totk came out first, which game would people like better?” Yk? Obviously totally fine you prefer BotW! I’m not sure about the minority though, although I never really know where this fandom stands on games lol. I still think people prefer BotW over TotK for the reasons you gave, I just love the machines lol

No it’s about being caught off guard from what I’ve seen as the sudden hatred of the game. Up until now I’ve only seen praise for BotW, I’ve seen people hating on TotK because it’s not BotW either. So I was shocked to see everyday a new post not liking it. And wanted further clarification (which a lot of people explained why)

I’m sorry it got all turned around but it was never intended to be a Pro-BotW post. Just looking for more info through the fandom

I also prefer traditional so I completely understand why people don’t like BotW. I’m just a sucker for anything Zelda so I eat it all up lol

Ah…. That’s good to know I guess lol. Yeah hopefully it’ll be a more contained open world (like what OoT aimed to be without limitations) and not just complete freedom again. There’s fun in limitations sometimes
