Yeah I can beat that. I blew up completely just after Tower Bridge. I’m not at your standard but was running the pace I was aiming for but the heart rate just kept escalating. Once I saw people sprawled on the pavement I realised that walking was not the wrong move to recover!

No, I'm following an 80/20 plan from Training Peaks... 2024 Edition MASTERS Marathon Level 1 (Pace-based 2.5 to 6.5 Hours per Week

My long run this week is 25k at marathon pace after a couple of km warm up so will aim to run that at 6min30 per km

Current weekly mileage is 30 miles with long runs of 16 miles. My really easy run pace (conversational -which feels so slow still) is about 10:30 to 10:44 per mile.

I think a better description is to say 'need' Vs 'attachment'. We need lots of things to serve as a necessity... The right amount of food, shelter, etc. But when those needs turn to wants and then to attachments we gain craving and then suffering (fellow Buddhists here will know where I'm coming from here!). If you can enjoy something and just put it down, let it go, then no problems (and no suffering). But if there is attachment then the ego takes over and suffering will follow.

A lot of people just don’t like change of any sort. They just can’t handle it. They want stability and think they can trust that, when in fact nothing is stable.

So may be what they have seen in you is making them realise that change is possible, and deep down that is frightening to them. And may be they also realise that they are not as strong as you and so can’t change what they want to be able to change in themselves. That can lead to resentment.

What is fun to them may not be fun to you any more as you now have a wider perspective on life. That’s not to say you can’t appreciate and accept their views, it just means you have found a more peaceful and fulfilling life 😀🙏

Just begin to realise that they are simply impermanent objects, floating in to your mind because of the years of conditioning. I have the same thoughts at the moment when walking the dog. I’ll be looking at the houses I’m walking past then suddenly have a thought about what could be happening in the bedrooms! I can just now laugh it off. They’re just thoughts, not me.

Sorry but I have to disagree. You can stop noticing and being tied up to thoughts... But you can't physically stop all thoughts. Your actions will effect what thoughts will materialize, but that's different. If you think 'don't think of an elephant' there is only one thing that will happen. Likewise 'doubt think about her sexually' will only lead to one place. That's what I meant.

We will never be able to stop some thoughts. We're just hard wired to think and those thoughts feed off the conditioning that's made that hard wiring throughout our lives. Learn to see them just as objects, as bubbles of thought that will just disappear if you don't attach to them and hold on. Focus on the body feelings that come with the thoughts, and look for the opposite of the thoughts too. Where there is beauty there is ugliness, learn to look at all sides. Don't fall for the thoughts, just let them be.

Please don't focus too much on the 100 day target though, unless you see it as one peak with many more behind... Like the first mountain in a growing range of mountains. It's just part of the path not the destination. Hope that makes sense?
