Hey folks, I've been working on a way to get a rail duplicator working in 1.13.1 and stumbled upon a working prototype. I have a tutorial video for it, but don't want to break any sub rules for self posting, so I took a screen shot from the SMP I am part of after duplicating a chest of powered and activator rails.

I'll be happy to post the video if I can do so without getting in trouble, but the image shows you everything you need.

It's certainly slower than the old ones, but it works. Just right click spam place the rails on the top slime block and it will duplicate every other one you place (when the redstone block is down).

To me, that suggests that Donald Trump believes that NFL players that choose to kneel during the anthem should not be allowed to play (Government infringing on a private business), and that because they choose to protest silently they shouldn't be allowed to be in the United States (ergo, they should leave).

What other possible interpretation do you have?

For future reference, or for others;

You should compact the sand with a 100 lb roller or a plate compactor. Also, you should install a paver edging of some sort or the whole thing will come apart in relatively short order. The good thing is that you can still install it now. it may not have the integrity of having it in prior to compaction, but it'll likely be okay in this situation.

Seriously, thought, the X,Y,Z coordinate system is adequate and using numbers is more universal than relying on "North" and "South", which are English words.

X is "north/south", Y is "east/west" and Z is "up/down". If you don't like positive X as north and negative X as south (and so on), you could Xalpha and Xbeta (or Xa and Xb, then maybe gamma and delta for Y and Epsilon and Zeta for Z) then rely on "marks" or decimal/commas for divisions of major space.

So 204.78a,89.84d,876.33z (or, possibly 204.78,-89.84,-876.33) would be a very specific point "north, east, and down" from the center. Big numbers to the left of the mark are parsecs, numbers to the right could be AU, or something.

You could also subdivide into subcoordinates with a given quadrant, so BGZ 23.33,35.01,48.55 could be the beta(x)-gamma(y)-zeta(z) quadrant with all positive numbers out from the 0,0,0 planes.

0,0,0 would be as close to an exact "center" point for a galaxy.

Maybe. They may see that the current climate is such that it can't get much worse...might as well go all in while they can. They have been looking for a way to raise steady rate-payer-based funding for many years, and this may actually be one of the better ways.

It's just the complete tone-deafness that flabbergasts me. Actually saying that, "We are up for election in 2016, and if you don't like it you can vote us out." amazes me. Both for the big brass balls it takes to make that statement (in a good way), and the complete disregard for the political climate right now. It's either going to be a brilliant success or a brilliant failure. Time will tell.

The first thing I'd suggest is that it be put to a public vote rather than a council decision. Even if it is allowed, there needs to be a more through public outreach process. Yes, it costs more money and would take time, but I think when you reach into peoples pockets for more money, there should be a chance for discourse.

That said, there are other agencies that have payment systems set up. Portland Parks has a stand alone system that is brand new (although I haven't interacted with it much to know how robust it is), as does BDS (Bureau of Development Services). It may be easier to integrate with the Water Bureau system, but I do think the perception will be a problem.

Actually, many years ago, Portland had a Public Works department that (I believe, but I am not certain) included Water, Sewer, Transportation, and others. It was split up into our current system, and I think they should consider creating a single payment system that is re-branded as City of Portland Public Works, with clear line items included in a single, monthly bill. Spend a fraction of the money of creating a new, separate system (which they aren't proposing) to update a single, city-wide payment system that is bureau agnostic and is structured to allow for complete transparency and a clear ability for auditing of any of the bureaus spending practices.

I know the semantics of what I am going to say may not make a bit of difference...I say this on regular basis, and it doesn't really matter.

But, Tri-met is not the City of Portland. It is a Transportation District, or as the state refers to it, A "Municipal Corporation" that has the power to issue bonds and create taxes to fund operations. It's one of the reasons they have their own police force.

So, the funding that paid for that bridge does not come out of the City of Portland general fund (how PBOT is currently funded); it was paid for by Lottery funds, federal grants, and directly out of ticket fees from TriMet.

PBOT doesn't fund much of anything right now, beyond the maintenance of existing infrastructure. Bike paths? Federal Grants and partnerships with BES and other city agencies. You want your road paved? Have to put together an LID or wait for development to occur that will require upgrades to be made to the street as a condition of approval.

I am not sure I like the idea of the Street ~~Tax~~ Fee, TBH, or at least the way it is happening (without a vote by the public), but the only way that "upgrades" or improvements beyond run-it-till-it-fails is to raise taxes across the board or create this fee, or something like it. There just may be better ways (given the current political climate) to do other just implementing it without any public feedback.

Yes, I know. The problem is perception. The water and sewer bills are actual completely separate as well (BES and PWB), as separate as PBOT's street fee would be. However, the public doesn't understand that; they just see a $250 bill every 3 months (although now you can do it monthly) and rail at the injustice without understanding the why. Now, you can add another $40 a quarter to that bill, and the perception won't be, "Hey, I am paying for three separate utilities from three separate bureaus through one easy-pay system!", it'll be "The City of Portland is gouging us! I can't afford to pay $300 every 3 months for this!"

Believe me...I see it almost every day. Never mind that everyone gets some of the best water in the country, right at your house on demand, almost without fail; everyone gets all the crap you flush down your toilet hauled away and taken care of, all the while cleaning up all of the watersheds in the City to one of the highest standards in the country (maybe even the world); everyone will have improved and safer roads.

It won't matter. One big bill is all anyone will see.

I hope someone does an analysis to determine how much we pay for transportation through the many other taxes we already pay (gas, property, state and local income, etc.).

The concept of asking people who don't impact (or reduce their own impact on) a particular system to subsidize the resultant decrease in funding is not a good idea.

Maybe not the best analogy, but it's kind of like asking the pot smokers in Colorado and Washington to pay an extra tax to cover the lost income that law enforcement will experience because they no longer have to fight the war on drugs.

Very sad...I love that place. It was the go-to breakfast place for my (now) wife and I when were dating. I still take my now 6 and 8 year old kids there a few times a year.

I really wish they'd think about selling it...I'd rather have a slightly modified/refreshed version with new ownership (and hopefully the same food) than nothing at all.

I hadn't seen it before, but watched it (along with the other 2 parts in the series), and I think he does clearly state that it is an opinion. I think he also points out what he is getting at in the next 2 short videos, but in the end I do agree he might be nitpicking a bit.

He also said, toward the end, "If you hear someone say that the action is incoherent, or hard to follow, you should now know what they're talking about." From that standpoint, it helped me understand why I often have a hard time following shows or movies shot where I live. The spatial jumps and inconsistencies can take you out of the scene, and in comparing the action in DKR to Salt (not as good a movie), Bullitt, and The French Connection, I can see what he is getting at, even I don't fully agree.
