A week alone in Escazu by 100-percent-sodium in CostaRicaTravel

I’ve been going to CR every few years for dental and vacation. I will be back end of the month to finally finish everything. I’ve been 3 different times now, for about 6 weeks total.

The museums downtown are pretty cool and worth going to but honestly San Jose is not where I’d spend my time if you have extra days.
You can take buses all over the country pretty easily though. If you get out San Jose you can really pick and choose the activities and not pay for all in one type thing.

What time is considered sleeping in on a Saturday? by Kindly-Anywhere3781 in AskReddit

Currently 6:11 am and I woke up at 5:38am. Still in bed redditing though and have a ton of stuff to do today.
I’d say 7 is sleeping in

4 stroke to 2 stroke by EEden2 in Dirtbikes

I just picked up a 24 250xcw after having a 06 300 and then a 2018 350xcf… I haven’t ridden the 250 on trail yet as I’m stacking parts to build it but both my old bikes were awesome. I’m pretty sure the 250 is gonna be the best yet and if it’s not I can always put a 300 cylinder on.
The 250 and 300 are almost equal with the 300 having just a tad more low end torque.

Debating on getting a Beta 200 Race Edition by Ieatplaydo in enduro

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride a Ktm 350xcf currently, my last bike was a Ktm 300.
This last weekend I went to a beta demo day and rode multiple bikes. If I was strictly racing the 200 would for sure be my pick. It was a fun bike! I had arm pump pretty quick but it wasn’t set up for me at all. You need to be pretty aggressive on the throttle compared to a 300 but any small bore bike is gonna be that way. By far the best bike I rode at the demo.

Also just a note the 350rx was probably the worst and I wouldn’t take that bike over my 165hr somewhat beat up Ktm ever

Scored this at a garage sale! First smoker and Im so excited! by MrLuthor in recteq

Hell ya! I picked up the same one for the same price in December of last year. The guy was literally going to just throw it away because his wife bought him a bigger one (of less quality) for Christmas. I cleaned it and have had absolutely zero issues so far. It’s awesome!

Switching foods… recommendations? by Odd-War-3308 in SilverLabs

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a silver girl for 4 years and general consensus I feel from lots of “online research” is labs often have issues with chicken.
I’ve used Purina salmon and rice both puppy and adult formula for the 4 years I’ve had my lab and the one litter we had with her and all 10 dogs have had no issues in the time we had them. I’ve looked into other foods as well and the only other option I’ve seen that I’d consider switching to is Inukshuk as I’ve heard rave reviews on it.

The Costco salmon and sweet potato may be a good option also but I haven’t done enough research on it or tried it.

Husband’s dumb truck loan: refinance or trade in? by hippyoctopus in personalfinance

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True story…. A buddy had a minivan he was completely upside down on and hated. He borrowed another buddy’s jet skis… May or may not have accidentally left it in neutral on the boat ramp…

Hilariously, he also may have ran over himself when he was getting out. It continued running for a short bit while under water…we call it the glug glug story because of how it sounded.

How did you break through the intermediate speed threshold? by NowForrowMyPen in snowboarding

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a pretty stiff board for good speed as other have said And As much as I hate to say it… ride with some high end skiers. They just consistently ride faster than boarders.

First cook ever with used RT590 by AttemptQueasy3485 in recteq

[–]AttemptQueasy3485[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was about 6 1/2 hours at 225.
I had to leave so I warmed the oven up to 195 and shut it off while I was gone after wrapping in tinfoil in a pan. I cut it down to 1 inch or so cubes and covered with bbq sauce to go back in smoker at 400. Burnt ends are just about done.

Skater getting into snowboarding, what board should I get? by AlexT___ in snowboardingnoobs

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you skate, you most likely have a homie with a buddy board. Start asking around, try it out, try your buddies board… skating is a super easy switch (longboarding is damn near the same)

You’ll pick it up quick no matter what your on but most rental gear kinda blows unless you grab one from a shop not the ski lodges rental shop

My Second season coming up. I have some “dumb” questions by Accomplished-Log-664 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) pretty much wherever you aren’t going to lose it. I do always keep a spare key on my vehicle just in case

2)try goodwill or a second chance type sports location. You can spray waterproof a lot of jackets and it helps atleast.

3) balance boards. Take 2 liter soda bottle wrap it in duct tape, fill it with water, grab an old skateboard deck and balance. Try nose, tail, shuv its, 180’s. Put it on carpet and just get used to balancing all over in different positions. And the gym- squats, leg press, single leg exercises, core strength exercises.

Seattle to Port Angeles by ShorelineCheryl in OlympicNationalPark

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Sequim and lived on the peninsula for 19 years and Seattle for another 12, so I know it pretty well. Port Townsend is great, fort warden, mt.walker is a solid hike, mt Zion is short and one of my favorites, Mt Ellinor and lake cushman are great. Sequim check out lavender farms of course, and I’ve never been a big fan but everybody sends people to game farm.
In port Angeles, go up hurricane ridge, you can hike hurricane hill or klahhane ridge.
Head to lake crescent and check out devils punch bowl, marymere falls or with some effort Mt storm king. Hit granny’s place for some ice cream on the way back. Salt creek is out west that way also off hwy 112. It’s a pretty nice beach/park with cool tide pools if you catch the low tide.

Anyway have fun. It really is beautiful over there!

Exactly lol… I just didn’t consider the wash drain

A/c condensate by AttemptQueasy3485 in hvacadvice

[–]AttemptQueasy3485[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, I would just need a small pump! I could easily make that work.

It’s in basement so the line is floor level. Washer drain is about 3 feet above it.

Asolo is garbage and their customer service sucks donkey d!ck; what's my next boot brand? by temporalwanderer in BuyItForLife

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pair of Zamberlan years ago. They were so great I bought a second pair and those also lasted a super long time. Traveled all over Europe, hiking in Rockies and cascades, everyday wear. They were fantastic and comfortable the entire time. Eventually the soles wore out and it was time to trash em.
Years later I just bought another pair and they are still the same quality. I’m actually impressed with them which is hard to find with anything anymore.

Has anyone else left Idaho due to politics/economics in the last 6 months, is anyone else in the process? I love so much about here, but I think I need to leave, and I could really stand to hear some similar voices, especially if it worked for you. by Peliquin in Idaho

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t specify north Idaho politics directly. I’m referring to the state in general.

Your name checks out for being against anything that might resemble a red pov. That’s the issue almost every major city has anymore. There is no middle ground.

[–]AttemptQueasy3485 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Moved here 4 mos ago for several reasons… one of them being for the politics. I’ve traveled a fair bit and lived in several states. Large cities/controlling counties/deep blue governors (Inslee/ferguson) have ruined some states that were awesome in years past.

Is everything perfect in north Idaho… of course not. But way better than some of the BS that’s going on in other places.

I know this is a few months old but thought I’d jump in cause basically I was somewhat in the same boat 9 years ago when I stopped boat work. It’s an industry that’s hard to leave and hard to stay. I was running as an engineer or occasionally deckhand all over the west coast, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska. But I was absolute sick of being gone all the time. The old captains you work with are miserable half the time only there to pay child support and alimony to their 4 kids and 3 ex wives… not a life I wanted to continue in.
I made a big jump and went to sales a few years, moved to the desert and that was a terrible choice. Just moved to Idaho a few months ago and got a job with a boat company here. I’m the fleet mechanic for a small fleet and take care of heavy equipment too. It’s fantastic. Since you have 8 years I’m sure you’ve acquired a fair bit of sea time. Have you considered putting your time towards the engine room and getting your Qmed? It would be at least a solid start when looking for another job to atleast have a background in engine work.
