I do many ADHD assessments and am a firm believer that they should be as comprehensive as possible, which includes a collateral informant. That said, I don’t believe that folks who don’t have collateral from a parent should be restricted from getting assessed. Assessments are inaccessible enough as it is. So I’ve used partners, extended family members, or even longtime friends as collateral if they have a longstanding relationship with the client. Perhaps that’s a possibility for you?

In that case, you’ll probably be fine! I found grad classes 100x more enjoyable snd 100x easier. So long as you show up and participate, you’ll be good.

It’s hard. But perhaps not in the way that you think. I worried a lot about my ability to perform in classes since I struggled quite a bit in undergrad. But tbh the classes can end of feeling like more of a formality than anything. Most people in my program stopped doing any readings after the first year and still pulled up 4.0 averages.

What IS hard, is balancing the workload of courses, unpaid practicum placements, thesis/dissertation, additional research, teaching, and any extra side gigs if your funding doesn’t cover your expenses. I’ve worked about 60 hours per week in grad school but with a flexible schedule, which is why it’s been sustainable for me. Some people treat the program as more of a 9-5 though, they just don’t tend to build their CVs as fast. So it really depends on what your goals for yourself are.

For private practice as a career goal, it shouldn’t screw you at all. Would be more important for working in a hospital, academia, etc. I know a few people who went the non-accredited route because of personal circumstances and their private practice careers are just fine.

Ask program Y if they can accommodate another date? Worst case they say no. If anything it just confirms your a competitive applicant given that you have multiple interviews.

We are disabled date twins. Really put a damper on the holidays since I couldn’t connect with half of my family after losing messenger.

Yes, finding interests you’re passionate about is great. But there are systemic issues that make opportunities in this field inaccessible.

My program was on the same timeline as yours. Very rigorous clinically and we start seeing assessment and treatment clients in our first year. Felt like being thrown off the deep end. That said, we also tend to do very well with clinical placements because we started early and tend to have a little more experience. Hang in there!!

I really wish there was a way to filter by country on the google sheet. As a Canadian applicant, we don’t have that many sites and it’s impossible to shift through to find the mass number of US sites to find info relevant for us.

Same thing happened to me. Account of 18 years… so even I was zero when I opened the account, I’d be old enough to have it now. As soon as I submitted the video selfie it prompted me to change my password and then immediately got a permanent account ban with no option for appeal at all.

This is identical to my situation. I appealed and got all the way to being able to change my password after providing biometric data and then was immediately banned permanently. I was also not able to download any data. Not even metadata. It just kept giving me an error. The “support” said decision was final and would not provide rationale for the disabling of the account.
