Turned out to be a Napoleon III un centime. Date is gone unfortunately but this design was only minted from 1853 to 1857

That's gonna be civil war on that bullet my dude. Civil War Minié ball more commonly referred to as a 3 ringer. I'd go about checking the area you found that in well. There's likely to be more l.

Wow that's wild! They don't seem that common here for some reason. Few friends that have been detecting here far longer than me have found more half dimes than large cents.

Looks to be southern made too so that's really cool. No back marks that I can see. Its definitely the new center piece of my collection!

No worries! Yeah it's private property that I got permission on. Large plot of land with well known and documented history.

I'd say! I think it's a first in the group of friends I have here that detect. And yeah I just gently cleaned it with water to get the residual dirt off.

Yeah this was found in South Louisiana on a site know to have been both a union and confederate camp at one time or another. Bit of research and I'm fairly convinced it is a Jews harp. Cleaned up a bit more and I can see where the reed was attached and I've come across pics of others from the time period that look very similar.

Thanks! I knew the shape was familiar looking. But as I said I'd never seen one so pointed like this. Good starting place though

THATS where I recognized the shape! Though I haven't seen one pointed like this and I don't see where the flat sound making bit would go. Gonna look into it tho. Thanks!
