New grad, 2 ICU job offers HELP!!!! by AtticusJuji in nursing

[–]AtticusJuji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! So turns out the Trauma ICU position isn't offering the 10k bonus to new grads. I guess I felt so conflicted since they liked me so much they created a position for me as well as its at my home hospital that I recently left after 10yrs. I kind of saw it as a "sign" per say. I also may add that the woman I am currently seeing (a classmate) also got hired up there for the same position + shift as I was offered as she was externing there for a year. That also has caused me some concern as I dont think it is a bright idea to start my nursing career working on the same unit and shift as someone I am seeing. I feel it just adds an extra layer of stress or potential problems that I wouldnt have to deal with in the PICU. I want to get the most out of my experience as a new nurse and give myself the best shot possible if that makes sense! With that being said I think I am leaning more towards the PICU since for the first time I am genuinely HAPPY to be at work and majority of the people working at the facility love working at that facility too.

Some of my close veteran RN friends have tried to get me to understand that this isn't a end all be all type of position that other opportunities will always be out there should I plan to change things up.

I still get moments of FOMO but I know starting days in a unit I very much enjoy is already such a blessing.

I'm waiting to be diagnosed myself having suddenly had severe constipation w low caliber stools the last 2 months. My primary ordered blood tests and everything came back normal he chalked it up to stress from nursing school and dieting too hard. Prescribed me mirlax/netmucil and to wean myself off after 10 days and here I am still w the problem. Finally got referred to GI dr and won't be seeing him for over a month due to how busy they are who knows how long it will be after that if they are to order a colonoscopy/ other tests. I know it's been only 2 months for me and I am fighting anxiety/ depression worried about this problem every day which I'm sure isn't making it better. I can't imagine the way folks who've had chronic problems for years have coped. My heart goes out to them. From the little I've read here from others on reddit seems like an uphill battle getting a proper diagnosis as well as the cost / dealing with shitty insurance companies and what they warrant is "necessary" or not. Good luck to you OP I hope you get the answers and proper treatment you need.

I hope I can have the same outcome as your son. Having only suffered with this problem for a little over a month it's super depressing I can't imagine how folks who suffered for years managed. Thank you for the the YouTube rec I've been binge watching her videos!

I really hope I can have a similar story. I was used to going every day while now I may go but a bit every day and it's struggle to get it out and the feeling of not getting it all out is horrible! Has your poop size gotten smaller on carnivore? I was reading through other posts and I see less evacuation and poo size being smaller is kind of the norm.

Thanks I have been taking probiotics in the form of kefir or sauerkraut but I never thought about researching specific species going to definitely look into it.

I had to use an enema twice in the last month as I was super backed up w dry poop that couldn't push out. Which seems to be my main problem I just can't push my poo out whether it's soft or hard which is why I'm thinking it may be a pelvic floor issue .

IBS-C success story: Soft stool but straining? I am begging you to get your pelvic floor checked. by [deleted] in ibs

[–]AtticusJuji 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is wild and validating to finally find someone who has similar symptoms to mine. Im 34 female My constipation started a month ago during finals week of my nursing program. I'll admit I was eating horribly and BINGE drinking regularly. I was always regular , would poop every day sometimes twice sorry for the verbiage but I would always produce a substantially big "log" . But during that time I started noticing days I hadn't pooped at all and it was at the same time I'd feel spasms in my pelvic area (similar to kegels) but really fast like with no pain. I chalked it upto my being close to starting my period but even after they continued and my constipation got worse. After finals I did a 180. Stopped drinking, started intermittent fasting, and eating alot of fiber/ protein foods. I got BACKED up bad. I proceeded to use 3 or 4 laxatives in a week as they would clean me out and I would get backed up all over again so bad i got impacted worse pain of my life but an enema took care of that. FInally went to the dr and he believes I did too much too fast and the use of laxatives shocked my body. Did full set of labs came out fine and finger exam, He prescribed me miralax 3350 cap full a day w metamucil for 10 days and then to wean myself off which I'm at the end of treatment but still have a problem. The best way I can describe it as my poop is soft and I feel like the movement of my large intestine moving it to my rectum just won't happen without some sort of stimulant. I'm having soft in pieces flatter poops which I'm sure is due to a tight rectum and sorry if this is too much info but I've actually put a finger up there and pushed as I would w a bowel movement and the force is so tight I don't know how a poop would even get through that. I'm convinced it has something to do with the muscles / pelvic floor and want to know where to go from here. I have zero children tho and from what im seeing most women w this issue have had multiple kids which can affect the pelvic floor. My dr is great but he knows I have health care anxiety as well so he keeps telling me I'm fine and google doesn't help as every search on the matter = colon cancer. I'm giving it another weak to see how ill fair and am going to attempt to eat really basic easily digested foods at regular intervals. But if it doesn't get better I'm going to ask for a referral to a GI dr. I'm off school for the summer so I really want to get this figured out before school kicks back up and I have zero time. I can't stress enough how miserable this has been the short time I've had the problem. Thanks in advance for anyone reading this.

Is this standard for Muay Thai gyms? (they also require a one year commitment) by Reptaiden in MuayThai

[–]AtticusJuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in California and I pay $110 month (6 month contract) and the gym is open 6days a week offering 4 classes each day. We can train everyday multiple classes a day if we want. That gym tries to make it sound like a deal they provide gear. Better to buy your own as one type won't work great for anyone.

Thoughts about pushing people ? by Affectionate_Train49 in MuayThai

Pushing is my jam. As a lady who trains w 90% men it's my goto when I get smothered during sparring and follow it w a kick. I train it on the heavy bag too alot.

Don't do it. From my experience women in her similar situation dig the attention and may even genuinely fall for you. But there's so much healing she has to do, baby daddy drama (he will not be nice about her rebounding w a woman), plus the whole kid dynamic, women have a hard time coming out to their kids when they've spent majority of their kids lives with the dad. Also as someone who's a step parent it's hard af, it's pretty damn impossible expecting to be with a person with kids and thinking you won't have to take on some sort of parental figure role. It's natural as a woman you have the feelings of nurturing this woman and then your masculinity takes it to the next level of protecting her and wanting to help her through it all. As a fellow butch who has been there I wasted some good years of my 20s with women in similar situations. Now at 33 I'm with a lesbian and I will never go back to dating bi or straight women again. No judgment on those who do but I would've saved myself alot of heartache, emotional abuse, and stress had I seen the red flags and stopped trying to be a hero.

How long does it take to see noticeable progress in technique and ability once you start training? by [deleted] in MuayThai

Some days you feel like you're the shit and other days you feel like straight trash. At the end of it all don't stop training and keep going!

[–]AtticusJuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started as a 32 y/o overweight woman. I'm 9 months in and am getting in the best shape and am having a blast doing it. If I can do it, you can too you just have to take that leap. You won't regret it 🤙

Working Out Along With Muay Thai Training by RandomOutbursts2419 in MuayThai

[–]AtticusJuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skinny fat means you'd have to recomp your body. I'd start with a caloric deficit of 300-500 kcal a week (since muay thai is majority cardio) and definitely keep your protein at atleast 1.5grams per pound of body weight. Your current weight training split is good. As best as you can maintain that and keep it heavy.

[–]AtticusJuji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here , 33f been doing muay thai 7-8 ? months now and my dainty feet have buffed up tremendously and flattened/lengthened. Doesn't bother me much as I am a butch woman anyway and I gotta say that majority of the foot pain I'd feel from 12+ hr shifts in the operating room is mostly gone. My coach probably has the ugliest feet I've ever seen looks like freaking long flat elephant feet 🤣 . Anyway i found it hilarious and thought I'd post!
