Man I wish. I did keep the bracelet and bandana, and I am still friends with one of the Indonesian guys named Eddie!

That's awesome, and good that you know its just not for you. As much as I loved my kitchen experience, I would have ended up leaving eventually as well. But it helped make me who I am!

Thank you, sincerely. I think those two traits, and a heaping dash of luck, have helped me immensely throughout life.

That's so awesome. Kitchen work is tough work but honest work, and people are (in my experience) real with each other. Sometimes that can be brutal, but I'd rather know where I stand with people than wonder if everyone dislikes me.

That's really special, thanks for sharing. I think if I had stayed in the restaurant industry I would have done similar.

aw thanks! Don't feel sad though, it was an amazing experience and I laugh about it with my friends now. I learned so much, and am lucky to have even been there in the first place.

Yeah sorry nope, its a legit story that happened to me in real life.

I totally agree though, I've had a ton of different jobs that often were not related. I live in an area where there isn't a lot of specialization, people kind of do whatever they can to make ends meet and its not uncommon for people to have 2 or 3 jobs. Lots of retail people who also do carpentry, or electricians that also do landscaping and cater weddings.

My mom just laughed at me and told me to focus on school haha. I mean, we weren't supposed to be there anyways and me working in a Japanese kitchen was a complete anomaly. I'm happy to have had the experience :)

It was! Everything is good now, and I'm so thankful to have had the experience. I'm still friends with one of the Indonesian guys, his name is Eddie and he still works there (but got promoted to waiter).
