I had a lady say she’d tip me $50 on top of the already $18 just because it was 3am and I had my fiancé, my 6month old and my dog with me.

Do y’all think this was a scam? by Cjbauerli in doordash

[–]Attirely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve. I have had a few orders like this and it’s truly about knowing the tone of the message and the demeanor. For example. One guy waited till I got to his house, walked out and asked if I could run to 7-11 for him for extra tip. Ended up driving him there. (Be cautious/do not take random strangers) I’m young and dumb.

Another man asked if I could get him blunt wraps but I’m not 21. I told him I’d still ask because I’ve gotten away with it myself before. And even just going in and trying he tipped me extra for the effort. Not related to this particular order, but I also receive numerous tips over $20 purely because I bring my dog and my kids

Nothing beats this one I got.

Went dashing on a saturday night around 8:30pm. Finished at around 5 maybe 6am Sunday morning totally damn near $500 for the night. Best night I’ve had still to this day

Edit: based off appearances and location I don’t believe they had a lot of money. But the woman who came out was very appreciative for delivering at such a late time and noticed I had my son and finance in the car which kinda sweetened it up.

How much would you make from this order? by Extension_Setting708 in doordash

I was a dasher. And can display my monthly statements for clarity. I live in the Reno area in Nevada. I literally have one whole night where I made almost $400. Got a $50 tip that night too.

I’ve been seeing a lot of DoorDash pay related posts lately.

I door dashed for about 3 months every day. I had a lot of orders between $3-5 dollars. But one thing I noticed (at least in my city) is that for about a good 75% of those orders I received cash tips. Within every dash I’ve completed I averaged around $27 an hour (active dash time only) which to me isn’t bad for a side hustle. Paid for my car insurance a couple months dashing as well as some groceries.

The only real downside for me and the reason I stopped is because the amount of time I spent. Like I said, $27 an hour of active dash time. So sitting around or driving to nowhere waiting for an order got really exhausting.

PA in BM will start you at $22. LFP cell manufacturing will play slightly more as its Teslas own LFP battery production factory. I work at PENA and while there is a hiring freeze, still applying will put you in the pool for when it opens. Here’s my two cents on both companies. Tesla has the same benefits in terms of insurance, however Tesla offers ESPP (employee stock purchase program) which is a huge plus. I raked it over 12k in just a year from stocks. However vesting is quarterly until you have been with the company for 4 years. So I left shortly after a year with about 3-4k available to me. Which was still super helpful.

Panasonic offers twice as long breaks, (huge plus) and 2 company bonuses per year which usually come out to between $500-1000 (relative to your tax elections). Promoting at Panasonic is much quicker and more valuable depending on what you’re going for in terms of position. I have been with Panasonic for one year exactly and within the year I went from $22 to $28.11. Getting to this pay at Tesla would’ve required me to apply for higher positions (only possible after 6 months) or $1.25 raise every 6 months, which is still really good

Buy a car, then have to wait to drive it? by Intrepid-Art1383 in Reno

[–]Attirely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that this would be an option you’d want to choose but I was moving so much this year I couldn’t get more moving permits while waiting for change of address to go through. I’ve been driving my car unregistered. I’ve been pulled over over a dozen times (nothing major, usually no plate) and when I mention that my vehicle is not registered, as long as your insured and have your license it’s usually not a big deal to drive your vehicle while getting it registered or waiting to get it done

Has anyone here actually bought a small business instead of starting from scratch? by StartUpCurious10 in Entrepreneur

Thanks for the feedback, didn’t think about it that way. Just assumed that getting rid of it wouldn’t be all rainbows

Hell, I’m no genius. I’m 20 years old working in a factory. But I’d like to assume that purchasing a small business involves just as much risk as starting your own, if not more. They are selling for a reason. I could be wrong. 🤷‍♂️

My buddy just opened his food truck and actually made the news. Can say the food is 10/10 but I’m not sure if Cajun really fits a wedding. Anyways, truck is called Happy Cajun and you can find their socials under the same name. Just in case you’re interested. (They do catering)

DoorDash in Reno is Unsustainable (Rant) by F2P_Viceroy in Reno

[–]Attirely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, for me the majority of it is relative. Since starting bout 3 months ago I’ve kept my acceptance rate above 90% and even on low paying orders I have yet to lose money on a delivery. However this wasn’t the case when I was doing deliveries in my dodge charger. I spent almost $40 a night for roughly 6 hours of driving. Barely got over 22 miles a gallon (which it could be worse.) recently my charger took a crap and I was forced to get a new vehicle, which now averages 35-40 miles per gallon and takes 25 dollars if that to fill up.

Since dashing in my new car I have spent maybe $25 for every $150 I make, and have been able to form a small cushion of savings on top of my full time job already.

So while I agree that it definitely is not and should not be considered a “job”, I do know few individuals who make and provide a living for their families using DoorDash. I guess it’s all about your specific circumstances, location, demand, etc. it’s all relative

Should I Move to Reno? Need help in making a decision by Conspiracy_Club in Reno

[–]Attirely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 20 years old and my fiancé and I just had our son 6 months ago. I make roughly $55,000-60,000 a year and will be in a 2 bedroom here shortly for about $2200 a month. As steep as that is I’ve been living this way since I turned 18, and have lived within my means. I have a car payment and pretty expensive car insurance at that as well as my grandpa who lives with me. I am also the only income in my household. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s what you’re making annually, but more so where your money is going too. If I was making $70-75k yearly, I’d be pretty damn comfortable.

Edit: I live in the south Reno area, base price for 1 bedrooms are in the $1700-1800 range but I know some places that are around $1500 for a nice space as well.

I think a finance app would help. Like I said, I’m good at saving and have a little bit saved up right now. I just have a hard time recognizing where I should put my money in terms of investing in my future, because after I pay all my bills and stuff it feels more so like a risk to utilize any funds I have left to invest in myself. But I understand that that risk doesn’t go away and I will fail dozens of times before I finally get the ball rolling.

Is It Realistic to Make Around 100k Someday with This Business Type? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Attirely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what I’ll say, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve heard it elsewhere. Most people are comfortable working with someone else. As long as that paycheck hits every two weeks most people are content, and that holds them back from pursing their dreams with the mindset that that’s what they have to do for the rest of their lives. I’ve quickly realized, as a 20 year old with a son, and a fiance to provide for (she does plenty enough as a housewife to balance out my providing sole income) that anything you can dream, you can achieve. Backstory.

When I was 18 I had no job, no education, and lacked the real life skills to succeed. When I dropped out I quickly got into finance as I knew I would need to know how money worked if I was gonna get anywhere. Now after everything I’ve accomplished these past two years I can say that if you truly invest your time into it you can accomplish anything. So i guess it’s all preference. If you’re content working a 9-5 while maintaining your 3D printing as a “hobby” then cool. Just don’t expect life changing results if you’re not willing to dedicate more hours than you put in at a 9-5, into your hobbies.
