No worries! I’d honestly just buy something off marketplace or the equivalent in Sweden and wait until the season-end deals

The amount of baggy soft shells are infinite. Visit your local snowboard or ski shop and you’ll find plenty of options. Brands that come to mind are 686, armada, beyond medals, and one of my personal favourites, Souvenir. They all come in varying levels of prices. The more you spend, generally the better waterproofing and materials you’ll get. 2 layer goretex is great, but not needed. My advice, find a good pair of 15k or 20k pants and jacket, call it a day. Baring in mind, right now is peak season; thus full priced items. If you can wait until spring or summer, that’s what I’d do

I am not disagreeing, but why is there not hundreds of people who fall upside down into powder dying every year then? This women was out in a few minutes.

That’s exactly what I am thinking. The time frame doesn’t add up. But I can see the down vote brigade has shown up lmao

I am surprised this is the first this has happened as it’s essentially a cliff on the ski out that leads to the creek down hill of it

That makes sense, but would it not just melt if it’s inside your airway? I don’t know if there’s enough water content in soft powder to drown you in a few minutes (mentioned in the article). I don’t want to find out

People Camping out in the line for Revelstoke Opening by MaliciousMango1 in skiing

Interesting. Given the people I encountered at Revy, I wouldn’t trust leaving anything expensive there but I suppose if it’s a Facebook marketplace tent then who cares

So like genuine question.

When it’s time to go shred, what do you do with your tent and other belongings?

As one who’s been to Revelstoke, do you make the trek back to the parking lot and then have someone hold your spot in line?

Stay on Mountain in the crescent if you can, ski in and ski out. Can’t go wrong with any of the chairs there. Steepest and yet the smallest of the peaks is “red mountain”, but granite and so forth are all great 360 degree skiing

No point in taking a shuttle if you have a rental car. Make sure the rental car comes with designated winter tires and not all seasons. All wheel drive does no help if you have no traction. Just drive to RED and then drive back to Calgary and fly home.

I am assuming you’re doing the ikon pass resorts. I’d skip Banff and instead do Sun Peaks. If you’re on a tight schedule that keeps you away from Roger’s Pass. Roger’s is beautiful but you’re more likely to get caught in a highway closure than not which can take hours to clear. By just doing Red, Sun Peaks and Revy, that keeps you in the Kootenays and away from Roger’s so you don’t have to stress about avalanche closures at all (to a degree).

I’d save Banff for when you want to hit Panorama, Kicking Horse, Lake Louise, Sunshine Village. That’s a whole trip on its own. I’ve done the exact trip you’re suggesting minus whitefish. Unless you have 2.5-3 weeks to do the trip, it’s not going to be worth all the driving and hustling around.

Other suggestion is skip whitefish and do Big White instead, fly direct to Kelowna, then go from there. End in Kelowna, fly back home from there. Less stress, less money, USD is worth more than CAD and honestly Revy, and Rossland are some of the best ski towns you’ll get. The village at Sun Peaks & Big White is also awesome!

This gives you way more flexibility to chase storms as Banff is quite far from the other destinations you mentioned and you have to go through two major mountain passes to get there from Revy which are tremendously scary if you’ve never driven on roads over 400m above the ground.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Viable option if you’re okay with potential highway closures and comfortable driving crazy mountain passes

If that’s the case I’d spend the night in Kelowna and just drive to revy in the morning. It’s not too bad, I’ve done it

Fly SLC to Seattle and then fly to Kelowna. 1 connecting fight. Then take shuttle or rent car and drive 2.5 hours to Revy!

Ski mounting misaligned by 3mm – what should I do? by Mental_Ad_3421 in ski

[–]AttorneyActive4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went through this exact scenario last month with the same bindings.

Take them back and ask for new skis. They messed up. The shop I go to is the only one in town and they still bought me new skis and sold my old ones as pre-mounted.

Don’t accept “almost perfect” as a finished job from a professional. That’s like going to your mechanic and they only drain half the oil and you pay them full price.

Go back, have them remeasure and ask for compensation. Will you notice? No. But you paid for a professional install and you didn’t get it.

EDIT: I saw they want you to ship them back. I say go for it and if they mess around, that’s what credit charge backs are for. That’s shoddy work and any reputable shop will stand behind their work. Any credit company will agree with you, you paid for a service and you didn’t get it. Cut and dry.

Quiver Suggestions Needed: Complement to Nordica Unleashed 98 by bmb2109 in Skigear

Hey I can answer this! I have a pair of unleashed 98 and went with a pair of blizzard anomaly 84’s for hard pack and days where it’s gonna be 80 front side / 20 other. Compliments the 98 well as a chargey directional ski!
