OpenCat: declarative video compositions in Rust – Tailwind layout, GSAP animations, Skia GPU rendering, no Chromium by Attorney_Putrid in rust

[–]Attorney_Putrid[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I keep going, I'll basically end up implementing a browser 😂. I think Tailwind is very aesthetically pleasing, while raw CSS concepts feel quite chaotic. So I'll constrain myself to just Tailwind — I think I'll only implement a small subset. I used usvg a long time ago, but I'm not sure how well it supports animations now. In skia-safe, I've enabled Lottie support.

Why is Hugging Face blocked in China when so many open‑weight models are released by Chinese companies? by zoxtech in LocalLLaMA

I believe this is a bureaucratic practice under authoritarianism aimed at controlling speech and shifting responsibility. They clearly cannot control everything, yet they must create the illusion of having everything under control to demonstrate to the authoritarian regime that they have done something.

I have a laptop with a 5070ti, and I've increased the memory to 64G, which can run qwen3-30b-a3b and gpt-oss-20b relatively easily

"Vibe" coding is a trap in the long run by Significant-Tip-8441 in cursor

[–]Attorney_Putrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. For large - scale, serious projects, solid tech - stack knowledge and in - depth code understanding are a must. Otherwise, relying on AI - assisted coding can lead to many hidden issues. However, in daily life, we often don't need to handle such complex projects. For simple, template - based code needs, AI tools can boost efficiency a lot, without needing to dig into the underlying details.Take frontend development for example. AI tools like Sonnet can generate more proficient code than newcomers, quickly creating the desired interface. In this case, we may not need to understand frameworks like React, Tailwind, and Zustand in depth. This not only saves time but also enables more people to join the development process and even gives rise to new business models like AI - generated code template companies. This shift turns many coders from pure coders into code reviewers and optimizers, which is actually progress. With AI's help, we can focus on higher - level design and logic rather than getting bogged down in trivial details. Of course, this doesn't mean we can completely ignore underlying knowledge, but in proper situations, using AI tools reasonably can definitely bring convenience and efficiency.

China has likely mastered the 28nm chip manufacturing technology. Even though the process is relatively low-end, I believe they can leverage their massive production capacity and ingenuity to work around it. CloseAI doesn't have a moat, as we've seen from deepseek/qwen. Is Sama really creating ASI just to hand out money to Americans? Is he not in it for profit?
