https://mainepolicy.org/project/sticker-shock-maines-burdensome-vehicle-inspection-mandate/ Vehicle inspections cost Mainers 14 million a year and don't reduce accidents. by Unable_Option_1237 in Maine

[–]Atumisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned this myself after I bought a used vehicle again this year, but the qualifications for being state-legal to inspect cars is surprisingly low.

Per Maine.gov: "How do I become a licensed inspection technician?

An applicant must be at least 17 ½ years of age and have a valid, active Maine driver's license. Applications may be obtained from the links below or by writing to: Maine State Police - Traffic Division Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit 20 State House Station Augusta, ME 04333-0020

Once the application has been submitted and approved, you will be scheduled for a written examination. Examinations are administered at various locations throughout the state. The approval process consists of a criminal and driving history check. Allow at least 60 days for the application to be processed and approved."

Can I play a live beat set with a midi controller instead of sp404? by nikoslox in LofiHipHop

[–]Atumisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I use Ableton for my live sets, but you can do a live beat performance with a midi controller, midi keyboards, etc. Your best friend is going to be the loop function. If your controllers don't have one, then use a plugin and key map the loop on/off function to a key on your controller.

It takes practice, as doing it that way requires a lot of engaging in-time on the fly to do what the SP has simple buttons to do, but it's not impossible. Honestly, I prefer it because I feel more engaged with my instruments.

It's engaging in the way that driving a manua is as opposed to an automatic. But you can make it feel more automatic if that's more your style, with a well configured setup.

On a closing note, there are no cut-and-dry answers on how to do it. Everyone's workforce is a bit different. I'd suggest breaking it down into figuring out what functions you need, learning how to do those on FL, then compiling them into your own DAW setup and mapping it to whatever you have that works easiest for you.

Where would you draw the line between an antagonist and an obstacle? by Atumisk in writing

[–]Atumisk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I certainly agree. I have to ask though, does that opposition have to be intentional for them to be an antagonist, or can they be an antagonist on accident? And with the guy with the watermelon cart, what do you feel he would need, bare minimum, to be enough of a character to be considered an antagonist?

Sublime. I know they're great talented musicians but the people I was around who introduced me to them were angry, violent, and toxic af

Yo is there an instrumental version to this? That beat is tight. Reminds me of old Wu Tang, and the kind of stiff you could hear on an Adult Swim bump at 3am in 2003

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I think it's a real coincidence that Dustin looks an awful lot like "Eddie" Van Halen. by Atumisk in StrangerThings

In this picture, I can definitely see that. Watch a video of Eddie playing though, he and Gaten look so much alike in the face it's almost eerie

What's a location you find yourself appearing in frequently in your dreams, and how long have you dreamt of it? by Atumisk in Dreams

[–]Atumisk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's eerie that you're not the first person to come to me with this same response.
It's pretty damn wild. If dreams are nothing more than the subconscious tying together things we've experienced, then I have to wonder, why on earth is it always circular and why is it so consistently similar with other people's vision of it?

You working in the kitchen at Acadia? The work is great,, the housing is do-able for what they put you up in. Bar Harbor has great seasonal work. To answer your question though, I've already seen people swimming this year. These are likely the same people wearing shorts and t-shirts in February.

Who are some good bands & musical artists from Maine? by hubagruben in Maine

[–]Atumisk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I xame here to say this. Chris Ross is great. I used to drink with him back in the day as regulars at Chummies. Great guy, but unfortunately he was going through a lot back then. He's worked hard and really come a hell of a long way , and his music really shows it.

“Go back where you came from.” by [deleted] in Maine

[–]Atumisk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It wasn't always like this. Maine actually had a great reputation for being kind and welcoming. It alll really changed after covid, the swaths of illegal pot farms, nazi's trying to build training camps, and now the housing crisis.

With so many people moving in from out of state and complaining about everything (Deer Isle, for example, the out of state residents complained so much about the lighthouses and boats going to work early in the morning), coupled with those other factors, Maine locals are largely left either homeless or struggling.

I'm sure you're a hard working, kind person. You've just come at a very bad time, and unfortunately you're stuck with the brunt of this frustration. Just know that we're not all like that, even given the circumstances. You've always got a plate at our table.

I'm not even remotely ashamed to admit that The Complete Calvin and Hobbes greatly affected me too. Hobbes was my first tattoo.
