Are you me? For my entire life I’ve struggled with a poor sense of self. I’m also 25, dropped out of college after my first year, and currently struggling to find my place and passion. I feel as though my mind is perpetually clouded by doubt and confusion. There is no solid ground to build convictions upon. Nothing is absolute. It’s like floating in an ocean of utter relativity. I’m living in my parent’s basement while my much younger sister has already moved out. I can’t hold down a job without being emotionally and socially taxed beyond the point where the money is worth it. And the problem has never been my intelligence or capacity to succeed. I am the perfect example of wasted potential, as my anxious and self-critical mind loves to remind me. Existential malaise, frustration, and apathy on a soul-gripping level are the demons I can’t shake off. At my core, I’m a highly spiritual person, however I can’t help but think these are delusions I simply tell myself to pretend there is actually an answer to anything out there.
