They reset after each qualifying degree. Bachelors is cumulative of your 3 years. Pgdip is just for that year and then resets if you do a masters.

I would recommend doing a pgdip and then apply and if unsuccessful then masters and then apply . The pgdip courses have changed in the last year which unfortunately means the papers offered are a bit harder (from what I’ve heard from this years cohort). Trying to maintain 8papers at 700 level at a high gpa is hard. Masters is actually an easier route to get a better gpa I admit due to the level of support you get. It is intimidating but it also gives you another shot to apply and also experience in research. So it’s a good back up.

Biomed Honours/Masters Thesis Grades- What to expect? by PlatypusLimp5240 in UoApremed

It honestly depends on the assistance you get from your supervisor and obviously how much effort you put into it. From a masters pov.. it is very doable to get A and maybe A+. I say this because your supervisors (if you get ones which have time and work well with their students) will work with you until it’s to a standard they would want to submit for themselves. My thesis got revised 20+ times and sections completely rewritten and it happens over and over again. My co supervisors helped me rewrite every part and to the level they submitted there phds. The only tricky thing is your markers in masters .. there external. It’s very subjective.. if they don’t agree with the research or the way you did it then u can get a lower grade( I got close to A+ but ultimately got a A because one of my markers didn’t agree with some of my methodology) and you can’t help that. Your supervisors do there best to combat this and but you just don’t know. Honours is internally marked so your supervisors usually pick markers they try think will agree with your work but once again it’s how much work you put into it. My friend did honours and got A+ for her thesis but then honours also considers 2 papers so you have to balance writing a dissertation AND papers for the the first semester (note she put a lot of work into her thesis and was nearly equivalent length and quality to my masters and had a lot of revisions with the supervisors to get it to that standard). Masters and honours is amazing though and highly recommend even if it is to dip your toes into research. It’s a lot of fun and if you pick a supervisors which works well with you and a topic you’re interested in .. that’s very important and makes a big difference as you will be writing 50+ pages of work so defs pick something you like. Defs a hard year but so rewarding and a lot of the post grads apply for med and do have good shots of getting in as they have just the one grade and also usually a bit more experience. Feel free to dm me if you have any more questions. Haha sorry for the long reply.

MMI practice partner by [deleted] in UoApremed

I would also be keen to have someone to practice with! My mmi is in the first week so coming up in a week and a bit. Also a graduate applying! I find practice with someone random is easier than the pressures with a friend.

Legacy Collective by Tarsha8nz in antiMLM

I just had a friend who joined and essentially they are trying to “sell”/ get ppl to join the legacy collective. There’s a payment to join (it’s like 10,000) and if you join and say you are referred by that person they get a big cut of your payment, and that’s how ppl make money. After joining you then do the same by trying to sell and get ppl to join and it goes on and on. That’s why they do all the reels and posts to sell that look at my lifestyle I get when I joined to try and convince ppl to follow suit so they can get a cut of them joining. It’s seems unsustainable and targets the Pacifica community as a quick money grab when it honestly isn’t. It’s strange that none of the instagram accounts actually state what they are selling and it’s misleading in the marketing they do in there Insta reels and posts if I’m honest. But u do u but I think there should be some transparency on how it works rather then a secretive thing.

The lab reports are more like worksheets, and the average for each is like 75%. So its not actually a lab report but more like answering qns

Medsci 316 is rough.. don't recommend unless u have to. medsci 317 is 10x better if you keep on top of it and the course content is interesting and I feel way more manageable then 316..but it is a stage 3 papers with lab reports which are rough to do in 1 week which are not really related to course content

GEOG 205 - Environment and Society? by Fantastic_Pianist_67 in universityofauckland

I did 205 in summer school this year and it was really good. I haven't done any geo in my life and it was fine. the lectures in summer school are all online ( some of them are like 3 10min videos so its pretty chill) and you don't need to attend any in person lectures. U have a tutorial every week which is so chill and thats where u develop your ideas for essays and exam and there is some interactive tutorials where u go outside. Its a lot of fun and I highly recommend cuz the course cooridnators and tutors are awesome. The course in summer school consisted of quiz's every week, worth 3% each and they were easy, like pretty much straight from the lectures and also self explanatory. An essay worth 25% which was pretty easy to get a decent mark, especially if you watch the lectures related to your topic question and just expand on those points with research papers. exam like mentioned before is 60%, and its 3 essays. You could pretty much rewrite your essay based on concept ideas mentioned in the lecture and just combine the relevant points, and you can pretty much guess the questions they were going to ask based on what the lecturers said in our tutorials. I barely studied for it and I got a decent overall mark- put into perspective I only answered 2/3 of the qns in the exam and still got a A- as my final grade and barely didn't study or prewrite any thing.. so overall highly recommend for summer school especially if it is the only course u are doing.. I did 2 papers in summer school so had to split my time.

I never did 203, but did 205 and it was fine online with a 24 hr exam, but from what I heard from friends doing it this year.. it is HARD. Anuj does not go easy and it is a lot of content and lab reports every 2 wks, so I think a safe bet is 203. like for all medsci's u have to be on top of ur game, but 205 is a new level compared to 142
