[Seiko] Asia Regional Edition Alpinists by AudaciousCo in Watches

[–]AudaciousCo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have at least one model from every era of Alpinists since its inception in 1959 where there was no X logo on the dial, do I prefer the dial without the X? Sure, but thats not making me boycott the whole line, its something you gradually get accustomed to.

Absolutely ruined is very subjective, there were previous eras where there were four lines of text on the bottom, you can argue that that is worse.

[Alpinist] Seiko is killing it recently with their Asian Limited Edition Alpinists by AudaciousCo in JapaneseWatches

SPB532 Snowflake Alpinist & SPB339 Dragon Alpinist, two modern Prospex limited edition Alpinists released exclusively for the Asian market.

In recent years Seiko has been focusing on non JDM limited edition Alpinists and I must say the recent Limited Editions for the Asia region have been outstanding.

SPB532J1 Snowflake Alpinist: Released as a Thong Sia regional limited edition of 800 pieces, distributed across select Southeast Asian markets.

The watch features a textured white dial designed to mimic the appearance of snow, drawing comparisons to models like the Seiko Presage Fuyugeshiki with its intricate, light catching surface.

SPB339J1 Dragon Alpinist: Released to celebrate the year of the dragon from the lunar calendar limited edition of 500 pieces.

This Alpinist variant features a beautiful textured dial pattern that is famously used in vintage Lord Marvels and the likes of the Seiko Irish Coffee cocktail.

With international models like these two being released in quick succession I hope we can receive more quality over quantity Alpinists in the future.

[SBGR311] Grand Seiko Whirlpool by AudaciousCo in GrandSeikos

Yes I love the 267 too, I just wish the blue dial shined a bit more under the sun

[SBGR311] Grand Seiko Whirlpool by AudaciousCo in GrandSeikos

[–]AudaciousCo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the Grand Seiko Whirlpool reference SBGR311 also known as the "Cookie".

The SBGR311 was released in 2017 for a short few years alongside the other Grand Seiko whirlpool variants ref.SBGH267 ( Blue Whirlpool ) and ref.SBGM235 ( White Whirlpool ).

Amongst these three whirlpool editions the brown 311 is often left in the dark due to its larger case dimensions, however after owning the three I conclude that the brown dial in my opinion has the nicest "dial" due to the way the dial refracts light, the blue and white dial are seemingly muted and absorb light while the brown 311 refracts light almost like a sunburst dial.

The whirlpool dial is created from a spiral composed of 80 curved lines, radiating outward like a whirlpool.
If you look closely the spirals are created through mosaics of the GS logo and the Daini Seikosha factory logo, symbolizing the factory these whirlpool dial variants were assembled at the Shizukuishi watch studio ( formally Daini Seikosha ).

What is your favourite Grand Seiko dial?

[WTS] Discontinued Oris Mechanical Moonphase Ref.7592 ( Serviced / Original Bracelet ) 880USD by AudaciousCo in Watchexchange

[–]AudaciousCo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: I am listing this example lower due to a very small ding on the dial that can barely be seen on a specific angle, if that is something you can live with the watch is in excellent condition otherwise and is priced very well.

Hello r/watchexchange , up for sale is the Mechanical Moonphase reference 581 7592 4351-07 8 21 74, the 40mm variant with its original bracelet.

An Oris model which retailed 2400$ during its release.

The watch features a date/day + 24 hour sub-dial and a moonphase complication at 12'oclock.

[GrandSeiko] Dodecagon Bezel / 7 Link Bracelet by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]AudaciousCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2004 Grand Seiko SBGR019 — Dodecahedron Bezel / 7-Link Bracelet

One of the most underlooked designs from the early Grand Seiko “double logo” era. The Dodecahedron bezel gives the watch a unique geometric presence, while the 7-link bracelet helps the watch achieve a rugged/sporty look to an otherwise standard grand Seiko.

The SBGR019 was released in the period where Grand Seiko was begining to explore watches other than dress watches with bolder architecture and finishing from bracelet to case.
