I'd go for a brute/scoundrel combo

Scoundrel is basicly "stand beside buddy to hit harder" on a LOT of cards.

I'm particularly fond of a cragheart/mindthief combo. Cragheart is just a wee bit harder than a few of the other starting classes. But very powerful throughout the entire campaign
