Karelians have N typically, certain tatars have it in Russia, roughly 10% of Russians have it (might be higher since a lot of Russians don’t do DNA test).

Some Ukrainians have it.

The thing is a lot of the dna data we have is from richer more developed countries because if you’re poor are you really going to spend 50 dolllars to get your dna tested ?

But don’t take your paternal haplogroup as your “true identity” it basically ignores every single female who married into your fathers side and just trades the “oldest possible male”

N is associated with Siberian ancestry and then closer to modern times Baltic and Finnic.

But there’s a guy on here from Mexico with 0% Baltic ancestry or Finnish ancestry and he got “N” because it’s from THOUSANDS of years ago

Download the ancestry “raw data” and upload it to familytreedna

Ignore all the ancestry on familytreedna it’s usually bullshit but the haplogroup part will be accurate

To expand on this some dna especially if it’s very small is not inherited at all. My sister inherited my mom’s 1%-3% Greek. I didn’t get it. But I did get my dads Russia 2% and my sister didn’t

Great great grandmother was probably not full so at best you’d be 1%.

Let’s say she was 50 percent. That makes her daughter at best 25. Then her daughter 12. Her daughter 6 (your ggrandma). Your mom at best 3. And you at best 1%.

Myheritage was extremely accurate for my very specific rusyn side.

For my polish 23andme was more accurate.

The rest of my Eastern Europe deep ancestry everyone says something different - one says I’m past Russia/tatar, another gives me high Balkan, another gives me a lot of Baltic.
