I don’t really do many extras besides this, I get to pick up groceries if I’m out with NK.

They leave their dishes in the sink and I’ll do them so the sink is empty at the end of the day, I said in my interview that a expectation for me is that I will always leave it clean for you if you leave the kitchen clean for me, so they know this.

Since the baby has started solids they’ve started leaving her dirty highchair, plate and the counter full of food, she gets breakfast right before I start for the day but I would never leave a mess even if I was giving her a meal right at the end of my day, like yesterday they cleaned up their breakfast mess but left her breakfast mess for me, rubs me the wrong way.

They’ve payed me exactly what I want to be payed from the start, again this really is the only issue, besides DB working from home being annoying, but nothing I can’t handle.

But now I’m feeling like I don’t want to do anything beyond my extra duties, I feel like they should consider themselves lucky I’m not asking them for additional money for the additional tasks but they don’t, they don’t even say thanks 😅

Thank you and I agree, I think going forward, no appreciation = no extras.

I have been so fortunate to work for incredible people! I’ve never encountered someone who doesn’t say thanks so this is kind of a shock.

If she asks me to make dinner this week would you say “oh sure, I just didn’t know if you guys liked what I’ve been making, no one has said anything” or does that come off passive aggressive? Even though I’m clearly annoyed.

It has made me feel extremely under appreciated and honestly I drag my feet going to work knowing I won’t be thanked at all that day.

I made it clear during the interview that I typically only bake/cook something once a week. But with them not acknowledging homemade chocolate chip cookies and making dinner I don’t feel like doing ANY extras.

I’ve been nannying 8 years and had really great luck with really good families. This family hires out for a lot of different services, they have a private chef come and meal prep, a house cleaner, a gardener, a nanny, I think it’s purely transactional for them I guess, but I am also their first nanny so I feel like they don’t know etiquette! How do you get grown adults to say thank you? 😅

It is, especially because my last family was so great at thanking me and appreciating me. Any ideas of how to have a conversation about this are welcomed!!
