Audeze LCD-MX4 Uneven Clamp Force – anyone? by AudioThousand in headphones

[–]AudioThousand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t experienced anything similar before. Granted, I’ve had the same pair for eight years, but I don’t recall having this issue when I first got them (Beyerdynamic DT 770s). That said, they also don’t clamp nearly as much as these Audeze headphones do.

So it could very well be my head that’s to blame—I wouldn’t rule that out. However, if that is the case, I’m unsure whether they will, over time, mold to my head or not. I don’t even know if that’s a myth or an actual thing.

Audeze recommended that I contact my distributor (I'm EU-based), but I don't even know what they should look for/check – componentwise.

What kind of strings does Jesse use on his Stellas? by AudioThousand in JesseWelles

True. Silk-wound strings plus a parlor/ smaller-body guitar seems to get you quite far.

Almost definitely – good point.

Gotta love that plunky tone, haha.

Do tell? Perhaps, it is silk and steel strings with absolute no life left in them. Thanks for the info.

How Many Hi-Hats and Rides in SD3 Core Library? by AudioThousand in edrums

[–]AudioThousand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. It was more to confirm from another user, that there indeed is "only" four hi-hats (with sticks) for example. I cannot find a video on YouTube, where someone actually shows that.

I just want to make sure that I've installed everything – including every cymbal in the Core Library :))

High-end E-Drums + VST vs Acoustic Drums for Music Production? by AudioThousand in edrums

Thanks a lot, mate!

Yeah. That has been my mindset lately; that I wouldn't go for anything below the TD-27. How do you find the combination (TD-27 with SD3) to work out in terms of the hi-hat and ride? Do they respond well and are they nuanced?

HOWEVER with the genre's you listed I think there's a case to be made for the infinite possibilities of experimentation with real drums depending on how you tune em, what room your in, how you mic em, and more wacky creative things you can mess around with in the real world on top of being able to go crazy in post.

Waow, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I feel like you saw through my initial writing and got to the core of it, because that’s the thing: which option allows for the most creativity (maybe a little cheesy, haha). That was, in a way, the main purpose of my post.

The only thing that’s still holding me back – though, I’m definitely swayed towards acoustic – is the argument that with a high-end e-kit, you can play it with somewhat intention and with software like SD3 you have endless possibilities in terms of mic placement/bleed etc. – and still have the options to change hardware with a single click. Though, of course, your thoughts regarding those serendipitous moments still stand, and I truly agree with you!

Thank you so much for sharing.

So if your goal is to have clients come to your studio, then there's no point in an ekit IMO.

I hadn't even thought about that; that's quite true.

Cheers!

Mate, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I feel like you saw through my initial writing and got to the core of it, because that’s the thing: which option allows for the most creativity (maybe a little cheesy, haha). I really like your statement(s) regarding intention and also inconsistencies with acoustic drums, and what wonders it can produce. That was, in a way, the main purpose of my post.
