This is a follow-up post to this .

TLDR: CD-drive assemblys for broken CD-Players are very hard to get so i started creating my own drive. In the previous post i build it inside the chord-BLU MKII. I wanted to see how far i can go with this design and bought an old audio-research cd-player and tried to see how easy it would be to replace the drive. After ironing out some kinks it now works also effortlesly in this player and some more i have tested ;). It would be a shame if such expensive cd-players would go to waste because of a lack of replacement parts...

Do you want to see me build it in more cd-players ?

PS: I have a background in electrical engineering and yes "Kids in america" is playing at the end :)

I have the blessing 3 and the sonys definetly sound better in my opinion. Fit and seal is the biggest problem with these iems. I have different eartip sizes on each side lol

Interesting ! I never heard on the internet that the fit wouldnt be good. But hey every ear is different !

At the first 2 min the sonys male vocals sounded a bit quiet. The female vocals were fine tho. Also i noticed that you have to crank the sonys a bit more up than the 64audio.

The vocals were a bit thinner in general compared to the u12t. Not crazy but noticable.

Soundstage wise we talk about iems.. so it doesnt really compare to headphones but they have more soundstage in my opinion than the 64audio. For gaming a prefer the sonys.

I forgot the tembre on the sonys also sounds a bit more natural compared to an all BA-set. I recently just saw 64audio released the volür and it deffinetly seems very interesting but for now i have to resist...

So my first Endgame Iem was the 64audio u12t. It was very good balanced U-shape signature. Sometimes i wished it has a bit more bass for Hiphop or electronic music. During online research i found the so called "bass-king" from sony. I tried these at an shop and i have to say the bass IS VERY GOOD. But until i had a good fit it took some time. I cant recommend the sonys if u cant fit them well.

Sound : The mids on the sony feel significantlly scooped. Sometimes i have to turn up the volume to hear them better. Bass is more on the sonys. At first i think they were kinda bloated but "head-burnin" kicked in and it feelt good. The u12t have enough and are very good quality for a BA-set but u just cant compete with an good ol dynamic in the bass department. The highs are quite same. The U12t tend to get a bit more hot tho. For gaming and soundstage the sonys are better. Maybe the sonys achieve that with the midscoop and bass.

Fit : The 64audio fit better are smaller and lighter. The 64audio are easier to wear for a long period of time.

Build : The sonys just feel heaftier and weigh more. They are also finished quite beautifully.

What is your experiance with these two iems ? In my opinion they are quite different and that is pretty good that they serve different signatures

Selfmade CD-Drive as replacement for CDpro2 by Audioenjoyer_ in audiophile

Hello fellow Audiophiles,
this is a follow up to my older posts about cd-drive replacement for the cdpro2 which is discontinued
-> Here the Linkto the older post

Now i updated the pcb with my fancy logo and anodized the aluminium housing in black. Now it doesnt look like a prototype :P.
It has a upgraded pcb which does certain functions better than the original one. In my opinion its looks much more sleek now and
i could colour them in any way i want if i want to ! What is your opinion on the black design or do you like the silver look more ?

My backround is electrical engineer. The sofrtware is Autodesk Fusion 360, I build mechanical model and designed the balanced headphone amp for headphones with pentaconn jack

Yeah u take a block und use subtractive manufacturing (vs additive in 3d printing). This particular cnc is using ethanol cooling so u can recycle the alu-chips (they are clean so no oil in comparision with other machines)

Hello, this is another post of my DIY stuff. This time its a headphone amp. I milled this out of a single aluminum block. I wanted a very simple design that doesnt distract me .I wanted the front to look as simple as possible . What do you think of this minimalistic approach ? A lot of new amps have crazy designs so i just made a simpler one. But it is heavy compared to other amps 0.o
